Rated 6/10

Canción destacada: The Cutter

Rated 6/10

Ok album. Nothing really stood out, but was pretty easy to listen to. 3/5

Rated 6/10

Definitely a step up from Crocodiles, though still not as good as Ocean Rain, in my opinion. McCulloch falls back on *a lot* of stock new wave/post-punk melodies, especially in the back half of the record, but I think he’s a decent vocalist, especially when the melodies are a bit more inventive. Highlights for me are “The Cutter”, “The Back of Love”, “Clay”, the title track, and “Heads Will Roll”.

I was scrolling through the reviews to this on here and saw someone saw this album was inoffensive, which I think is the perfect word to describe it. It's decent, but sounds like every other 80s British New Wave/Post Punk band that are littered in abundance in this list.

Only real standout quality was that I liked the bass in some songs. Everything else was just forgetful

Rated 4/10

Psychadelic rock? Interesting, but the voice and whining after a while a bit annoying.

Rated 6/10

Another solid album. Didn't blow me away but I also didn't want to turn it off. I think I preferred Ocean Rain though.

Rated 6/10

This is....fine.
I never heard of this band before listening to Porcupine, and I'll be hard pressed to remember them going forward. Not bad, not great, not memorable.

Rated 6/10

My second Echo & the Bunnymen album on this generator (the first being their debut album, Crocodiles). It's kinda like The Jesus & Mary Chain mixed with the dark/brooding Siouxsie & the Banshees.

The more I listen to this album, the more receptive to their sound I become. It's abrasive, Dark and weird at first, but settles into its own after a bit. A second listen is probably warranted for this one. Kinda like Bauhaus or Siouxsie & the Banshees, it took me a while to get into them. You definately need to be in a certain mood to enjoy it.

Favourite songs: Heads Will Roll, Ripeness, Never Stop - Discotheque, The Cutter, Back of Love

Least favourite songs: Porcupine

This isn't a 1-star album, it's a 3-star by my usual standards. However, as with so many artists in this book, there is no way that Echo & The Bunny men are deserving of 3 albums on here. Ocean Rain is a fantastic album, and deserves it's place. Porcupine and Crocodiles do not, so they get 1-star from me.

Great album cover though!

Rated 8/10

Of Echo's first four albums, I've found this to be their best, it goes deeper into their psychedelic and gothic influences more than the other four, but also seems to probably be the least well liked. It may not have a big standout song like the others do (though The Cutter is really good) but makes up for it with consistency, all the tracks on here are really good.

Rated 4/10

Two echo & the bunnymen albums?! Already. Expecting more. You're good with the greatest hits. I listened to that instead.

This project has quickly become more about reviewing the list itself than listening to the albums.

The cover reminded me of the KLF's Bill Drummond's sort-of autobiography '45'. That's a great read, he was managing these guys in his own way. Looks like Iceland where he toured with them so he potentially took this photo. Seemed to have a delightful love-hate relationship with Ian & the bunny boys.

Rated 6/10

There was nothing wrong with this album. It was fine, but I wouldn’t call it essential by any means. I enjoyed the music but I don’t care for the vocals. The singer has that 80s voice. I think the most popular example of what I’m talking about is tears for fears, but other examples are Modern English, Icicle Works, Naked Eyes, The Monroe’s. These were all one hit wonders, as were, as far as I know, Echo and the Bunnymen. I think it’s pretty obvious why too. It is grating to hear that style vocals for an entire album. It works for a song here and there, but gets annoying when listening for 45 minutes. I’m giving this a three but it’s really a 2.5.

Rated 6/10

Feel like Echo and the Bunnymen are a little slept on. Definitely a strong Joy Division sound...which is fascinating given how contemporary they were to one another. 3.5/5

Rated 8/10

Interesting album. Like if you crossed The Doors and The Cure.

3.5/5.0: Very Good

Rated 6/10

Oh boy another Echo and The Bunnymen album. This wasn't as aggressively bad but still sucked.

Rated 4/10

If the Cure and New Order weren’t interesting at all theyd make this

Rated 8/10

This album had me nearly instantly hooked with its odd combination of high energy guitars, pulsing, danceable bass, and a neat inclusion of acoustic guitar to give it a more natural sound compared to its synth-y contemporaries, striking against a dreary atmosphere and that odd vocal delivery you can't help but tune in to. Its as if you're being forced to dance to something you'd never think to fance to, yet you can't help but have a good time. This feeling permeates throughout the A-side, into the B-side, but unfortunately does not stick the landing, with the energy and tempo slowing going down, but not shockingly enough to keep your attention, rather just kind of ween you off the record before its over, that way you aren't really dying for more, but you had a good time while it lasted. Really strong showing from a band I've had mixed feelings on, and while this album doesn't really have its own "Killing Moon," it tries damn hard, never settling for just one or two good tracks, and to that I applaud and appreciate it.

Rated 6/10

This is the epitome of a three star album for me. I’m way too old for the angsty lyrics, and the music just kind of sits there, no momentum. It doesn’t make me mad, I can listen to it. But there’s no real reason to want to listen to it again.
