He just doesn’t have a voice that i like too much. Kinda sounds like if my uncle sat down to rhyme over some random (not super strong) beats.
I expected it to be a little better. Also it’s super long

I swear sometimes, y'know what I'm sayin'?

I swear when i shut my hand in a door, y'know what I'm sayin'? or to make a forceful point, y'know what I'm sayin'?

Sometimes I just swear cos it amuses me, y'know what I'm sayin'?

But I don't particularly like the music I listen to to be a constant stream of swearing, y'know what I'm sayin'?

So fuck you, Mr. fucking wanky-name Ice-T, you cunt.

This is a cool ass album. The beats are dope, the vibe is immaculate and he drops some bars. Enjoyed it!

The production is very sophisticated throughout; modern beats which other rappers of the early 90s would have killed for. I appreciate the social conscience of the lyrical content when it moves beyond braggadociousness. The overall effect is surprisingly friendly given the “gangster” label. Gangster rap has a sensitive side.

If I was to critique this I’d say the rapping itself is decent, but not mind blowing, and the project is overlong with several of the songs covering similar ground. I was happy to see the inclusion of his heavy metal side project though - impressive range.

pedradaça, hein
só flowzão violento, letra pedrada e beats bão demais com uma pegada de metal e hardcore. bacana demais, mto bem feito. body count eh fortíssima!!

Rated 6/10

So not my thing, but seems okay for something I've got no feeling for

Rated 10/10

The most intellectually self-aware of gangsta rap records (compare to the cruder Predator album by Ice Cube of the following year) offering a kind of apologia for the genre. Whether or not you find his argument successful, there’s no doubt that it’s eloquently stated and the tracks are dynamic and varied, justifying the album’s length. I particularly like “Midnight” with its Black Sabbath/Led Zeppelin sampling and was pleasantly surprised when “Body Count” popped up.

The Good: We are getting a refreshment!
The Bad: The ice tea is not sweetened…
The Ugly: bitter face…

I don’t know if Ice T is the original o.g. however, and let me, again, preface this by stating that I don’t like rap in general, this album was a surprise for me.

So here’s to the O.G. not being gangster all the time!

3*

I wasn’t enjoying this at all at the start but a couple of tracks in it started to pick up. I could live without the skits throughout it but I could say that about every rap album that has them.

Overall I liked it well enough but I don’t see myself ever going back to it after today.

Top Track - Midnight, great use of a Black Sabbath sample.

Undeniable genre-defining album. Lots of imitators but nobody ever came close to topping this. Also, Body Count!

Whitest review section ever. 5/5

I’m not massive on rap, so I don’t know too much about your Icey T’s or your Scoopy Scoopy Dog Dog’s… but this was alright. It feels more 80’s rap than that ‘gangsta shit’ that became massive in the 90’s, and I kind of dig that. I like the tracks that are a bit funky, and parts of this were pretty funny too. But man, why are rap albums always so long? There’s not enough variance across this album to justify the runtime, I’m sorry. Even with the rock track. And anyone who disagrees with that can, you know, suck my dick.

Rated 6/10

Either I’m becoming inoculated to gangster rap or this is different and better. I would not dis Ice T.

Rated 6/10

An actually decent rap album. Some garbage on here, but much lower than most. 3/5

Rated 10/10

Best Songs: Midnight, Body Count and The Tower

Great Album

Rated 10/10

East coast/Zulu beats and sampling with 90s Gangster lyrics…oddly works incredibly well. The sampling on this is timeless. Oddly though, way more socially conscious than Common…can’t believe how socially conscious the album is.

This album changed my mind forever about ice-T

Was enjoying the album, hovering around a 4/5, close to a 5. Then midnight came on and that song elevated this to a solid 5. The tower was a great song to end on as well

Rated 6/10

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Really enjoyed the song where he called out love for his homes, not a diss track, sort of like a song of little loves notes, so sweet.

Rated 4/10

This album is feeling very long.
