I went in with low expectations being that I have never understood the critical glaze over Kate.
I would like to say that I came out blown away by the record, I wasnt.
Its cool and all and there are parts here and there that are really good. Its usually not a full song but there will be a bridge or a chorus or just some little bit thats really great..... just like the rest of her discography.
Considering that this list is VERY UK oriented I wont be surprised to see every record of hers over the course of the next (checks notes) 577 records remaining.
3 stars. Its good I suppose and I understand why people would like it. I just dont care if I ever hear it again.

This feels like the kind of album my father would tell me was 'crucially important in his college years' or something with no further explanation. Couldn't get into it.

Season: True Winter
Favorite Song: The Fog

Beautiful and ethereal and somehow I never really listened to Kate Bush at all before and that was clearly wrong of me

Rated 4/10

This proved to be a challenging listen. I'm assuming that Kate Bush's singing is an acquired taste and that the content of her lyrics offers something deeper to appreciate, but I'm not really there yet. Heads We're Dancing was a particularly rough listen. Sorry Kate! I will say that the 80s synth production, as cheesy as it may seem, is at least consistently interesting and textured.

Rated 8/10

A really great late 80s record from Kate Bush. I like that she transforms her earlier style into something a little dreamier and more impressionistic here. Yeah there are a couple clunky late 80s rock cliches too, but overall this is a gem.

Rated 4/10

I like Kate Bush’s voice, and I like the overall sound of this album, but somehow I don’t actually like any of the songs. I’m not even sure why. They aren’t catchy, fun, interesting, or bad enough to complain about. They just sort of… exist. It’s like someone sealed the sound of the late ’80s in Tupperware, then forgot to put any songs in it. A perfectly preserved time capsule of the era, just from the lower shelf.

Creates a world, which is pleasant and important in making a great album (which this is). Sadly, a bit samey. Seldom is there a standout that I like for a reason other than its resemblance to other things I like more, and even more seldom does it genuinely impress me. The title track is nice, and “Reaching Out” is a phenomenon, but I will likely not return.

best kate bush album on here

Latter half is better

Rated 4/10

There are many people who love and appreciate Kate Bush‘s music. I am not one of them. This is the soundtrack to White privilege.

Rated 9/10

Jamais écouté avant.

Top : Love and Anger
Flop : Between a Man and a Woman

Rated 8/10

Been meaning to listen to more Kate bush albums and this didn’t disappoint

Rated 6/10

It was nice having Dave Gilmour on the guitars here, but this was ultimately a shrug of the shoulders follow up to a classic. I like the strings all over here, but the album is very generic in comparison to Hounds.

Rated 6/10

This album was piano-driven, soulful-sounding music that at times had a power-pop '80s sound. At other times, it was atmospheric and moody. It wasn't bad (I more enjoyed the darker songs on the second half), but I couldn't immerse myself in it. The '80s vibes are just not something I like very much. But Kate Bush does have a certain appealing charm somehow.

Compared to the last two albums i heard, The Sensual World was certainly heaven. The only song i was really familiar with from Kate Bush prior to listening to this is Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) (and also her collabing with Peter Gabriel on Don't Give Up) but i'm honestly surprised to see that this music feels like the same kind of music that Bjork would go on to make. I can definitely admit that there are some moments of absolute brilliance on this album but i did feel like the album was too airy (for lack of a better word) and ended up being a bit forgettable. It still is definitely a solid listen, just not a great one.
Best Song: This Woman's World
Worst Song: The Sensual World

I still haven’t fully figured out Kate Bush. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 is clearly thoughtful and carefully put together, but it never completely draws me in. The vocals, the arrangements, the whole atmosphere — it all feels very specific to her world, which I can appreciate more than I actually connect with. There are definitely moments that stand out, but as a whole it still keeps me at a bit of a distance.

Rated 10/10

I mean, it's Kate Bush, it automatically gets 5 stars. Well that's not quite true. This album is just a collection of fantastic songs, like a songbook, but isn't as thematically consistent as some of her masterpieces. Regardless, her songs are so good that they blow most other albums here out of the water. Forever and always my queen.
