Another one of those good albums that just don't do much for me. The Weight is a classic and while the album comes off to me as a better Grateful Dead, it still doesn't do a ton for me. No complaints from me, but minimal praises.
Rated 6/10
I love The Weight so I expected to love this, but the killer to filler ratio was a bit off. It probably didn’t help that what I’d always assumed was a comedy “crazy Chester” voice in The Weight might just be how Rick Danko sings?
Rated 3/10
Not really my thing

Okay album.

Ok well now I know the origin story of The Band. I'm still not really into Bob Dylan. The Weight is immediately recognizable. Long Black Veil is alright.
Rated 6/10
Don’t hate it, but it doesn’t do anything for me at all. Often sounds too close to the Grateful Dead for me to enjoy much.

An underwhelming album. More organ does not equate to more quality. 2.4/5 -> 2/5
Rated 4/10
When they stray towards country, the music is atrocious (utterly predictable vocal lines, half-hearted musical arrangements). When they stick to rock, it's actually interesting, with a killer rhythm section. Unfortunately, there are a significant number of country tracks on this album, which really drags the final score down.

we just had another album by the band a month ago. i liked this one more but it's still not great.

Dull. Staid. Brown. The Weight is a good song but this bores the tits off me.
Rated 6/10
I groaned when I saw it was another 60s album, but this was enjoyable. 3*
Highlights: lonesome suzie
Rated 4/10
Not a single sweat broken when thinking of that band name huh? Anyway, the songs were pretty generic. This is just a band like any other from the 60s. "A" Band, not "THE" Band.
Rated 8/10
Its a classic of communal folk rock - not my vibe is the only reason its not a 5.
Rated 6/10
Music From Big Pink was an album that did take a little while for me to really start to get used to it but when it did, the album did do it's job pretty well. Most of the songs generally sounded pretty good and were also pretty good at making some beautiful stuff at points. It did occasionally have parts where i can say that they weren't really the most pleasant to listen to such as the instrumentation getting to be a little too much but thankfully, those parts were pretty rare. This album is not a bad one and had some pretty good sounding parts but that's probably what you would expect from a band with the most generic name ever.
Best Song: This Wheel's on Fire
Worst Song: Tears of Rage

I did rather like this! :) Musicianship was top-notch, and I think I preferred it to the other album - this felt a bit more "focused" and it didn't feel quite so sprawling.
Rated 6/10
Oh, The Band. Every time I start the album I'm like, "Oooh yeah. Nice vibe!" Every time I get to the last few tracks, I'm like, "GAHHH! Make the muppetian falsetto STAHP!"
Overall, I definitely dig it, but it's pretty clear to me that their strengths lie in their abilities as a backing band, not backing vocalists, up to that point for a reason.

Rated 8/10
The Band rarely disappoints. 3.9
Rated 2/10
I've never heard of The Band. Writing this during the first song, a 5+ minute whine-fest, I wish I'd still never heard of them.
Through the third song, this is awful. The vocalist is very bad. I understand why I've never heard of them.
OK, song 5, The Weight. I've heard this song. I think it's just one of those songs that has been in movies or something. I don't know, I just know it sounds familiar.
I'm through song 8. I am definitely considering some of my life choices. Mistakes were made.
OK. Wow. That was painful. 1 star. There is nothing here for me.
