They had more layers and more invention than almost all their contemporaries in early dance music.

Rated 8/10

This was cool, crazy it came out in ‘89. It sounds way more modern than the 90s stuff I’ve heard off this list.

"It's 1989! It's 4:00 in the morning! We're tripping!" is what I said as the first track started up. It's a good accompaniment to the video I'm watching where somebody put a gopro on their cat and let it out to run around in the snow. Aw look at that cat, it's having fun. OK I think I'm getting a contact high from the music.

This is great stuff. A couple of the tracks had vocals that detracted a bit for me, but it's mostly lots of fun.

I've never heard of 808 State but I'm not exactly in the loop on this kind of music; late 80s electronica is not something I would listen to by choice.
This album kind of sounds like the sound track for a cheaply made, 80s-futuristic, animated sci fi movie. Like I can see the dude from Akira riding into the big city on the weird red motorcycle thing. I don't know, I only saw that movie once when I was a kid. And I feel like I will only be listening to this album once as well. Not my thing, though I can see how it could have been a starting point in this kind of music. I got bored quickly and was ready to move on in about 10 minutes though. 2/5

Rated 4/10

Started off good, aside from the really bad vocals in the first song. Next couple songs were solid aside from some random noises they'd add in repetitively. After that though, things started falling off a cliff a bit. Don't think I've ever had an album start off at a 4 but bumble its way to a 2 before.

Decent enough electronic music, but yeah, too many issues, and the music just isn't solid enough.

Rated 1/10

Really annoying. Probably a frontrunner of drum & bass or something (which I actually like), but I don't like this repetitive sound. Sounds very low quality

I was marginally too young for this originally. And didn't get it at all anyway. Fully engrossed as I was in "GUITARS", my older brothers mysterious bright red hardhat with happy-face-acid emojis on the side was a total mystery to me.

Now, of course, NOW.....................

Oh to have had the chance to participate in this even slightly. A delicious landscape of bloops, bleeps taking you to another world. Take a pill, and let your troubles slide away because we're all mates aren't we?

Rated 4/10

Never been to a rave. Never done MDMA. I feel like you need to have experience with at least one of these two things to enjoy this.

Rated 8/10

Pari aika hyvää raitaa! Arvostan tätä kasarin konemusamenoa.

Rated 3/10

Just not my jam. Not bad, but...

Rated 6/10

I quite like a bit of electronica, but this one feels a bit empty to me to be honest. It's not bad, there are some nice tracks in here, but even the best of them are never getting elevated beyond general 'quite nice to listen to' status. Maybe it's the production, it's just a bit weak.

2.5 rounded up.

Rated 4/10

I'm sure it was pretty cutting edge in it's day, but it doesn't feel fresh anymore.

Rated 6/10

Out of all of the UK based electronic albums I've been given through this project, this is one of the ones that does the least for me, but this does still manage to be pretty cool. This is a very influential, relatively early form of Acid House, and it isn't a genre I'm super familiar with, but just from this I haven't decided how I feel about it in general. There are a lot of very chunky, stylized sounding synths, and the percussion is pretty minimalist in general. There's also more kind of electro-pop than I was expecting. Sometimes this comes together to create something I like well enough, but at others I think this album sounds kind of dated. Although if I'm listening for sort of background music I can get through this pretty happily. It also helps that, especially for an electronic album, this is pretty short. Overall, I enjoyed my time, but this isn't a huge standout to me.

Rated 6/10

Pacific 202 is still enjoyable, the rest sounds a bit dated, but appreciate the innovations made at the time!

Rated 4/10

Nah man. There is nothing special about this.

Rated 6/10

This is cool considering it came out in 1989. It sounds pretty modern while still being able to tell it's older.

Rated 4/10

Uninteresting muzak with only a few enjoyable moments. 2/5

Rated 4/10

Slightly more interesting than a lot of other music in this genre from this era.
