2.5/5. An exceptionally okay album. Norah’s singing is definitely the highlight, she’s a strong vocalist and her voice does fit this quiet, intimate style of lounge-pop pretty well. But musically the album did basically nothing for me. You can make Lounge-y music sound fun and interesting, bands like Stereolab have done just that for example (yes I know it’s somewhat of an apples to oranges comparison.) but as it stands, listening to this album I couldn’t shake the feeling that it’s just “coffee shop/book shop” music. Perfectly fine for the background.

Rated 6/10

Coffee shop-core reminiscent of early 70s singer-songwriters. Feels like sipping a cup in the early morning before the rush (3-3.5)

Rated 1/10

Elevator music. Nice voice, unremarkable but not badly executed music. Totally forgettable.

Завжди любив цей альбом, якийсь він комфортний і затишний. Асоціюється в мене з гарними часами.

Rated 4/10

Decent voice and ok music. I’d probably pass on this one next time though. 2.5/5

This albums fine but I do not understand how it's one of the best selling of all time?

Rated 8/10

This is just a beautiful melodic album. Norah Jones’s voice is so rich and soft and the tracks bring this and her piano playing firmly to the fore.
Come Away With Me and Dont Know Why are obvious standouts but the rest holds its own.
Painter Song feels like a Parisian bistro on a warm summer’s day. The Long Day is Over sounds like the end of a night in a good jazz club.

Such a gorgeous voice.

It might just be that I listened to this at 5am because I couldn't sleep, despite being sleepy, but it completely felt like the right album for the right moment. It was such a gentle, relaxing listen.

I knew a few of the singles but nothing else and I enjoyed it all. Not sure it's something I'd regularly listen to, but it was perfectly pleasant while it happened.

It's hilarious that reviewers on this site will complain about an album for sounding like "Starbucks music", then turn around and give 5 stars to Boomer Bar Rock Album #43.

This is a lovely listen, and while it might not be a mindblowing experience on its own, it does stand out from the usual 1001 fare. Smooth and jazzy instrumentation beautifully complements Norah Jones' singing, which itself brings all ranges of emotion. I enjoyed it a lot!

Standouts: Don't Know Why • Turn Me On • Lonestar • I've Got To See You Again • Nightingale

Rated 4/10

This is nothing bothering, I really felt like I entered a restaurant or a cafeteria and this was in the background. It sounds a bit like royalty free music for photo collages. But there is nothing bad about it. It was just boring.

Rated 6/10

Great voice, great instrumentation, fantastic recording. I have a soft spot for female jazz vocals, so this does land within my taste profile. I haven't ever listen to this album, but I have heard a couple of cuts. I never went back for the whole thing until now. I don't see myself coming back to this very often, but this does have a rainy day, staring out the window vibe, so maybe as an accompaniment to that activity?

Kind of wild she's Ravi Shankar's daughter. Never would have known unless I read her parents names on Wikipedia. Maybe that says something about her; that she wasn't riding coattails to get where she is. Or maybe it says something about people's awareness of Ravi Shankar, or perhaps that his coattails weren't big enough to ride? Not sure.

See you on the next rainy day, Norah Jones

Well... It's not totally awful, just wildly bland. Nothing hits on here. It's like background music in an upscale coffee shop. The kind of place that will try to sell you a $13 latte. No thanks.

Nooooooooooooooooooo. One of my most hated albums of all time!!!! So overplayed and overawarded and aggressively BORING!!! I saw the cover pop up and my heart rate skyrocketed with rage, which is ironic given the BPM of the tracks. Someone should make a Norah Jones x Macy Gray mashup so I can concentrate my annoyance more efficiently. Blues-pop? Country-soul? What are we doing? What's going on? It feels like music for people who don't really like music.

(however, did you know she's ravi shankar's daughter??)

When I first started listening to this album, I thought for sure I would be giving it a 1 or 2 rating. Putting it back on again first thing in the morning, I'm finding it very peaceful and relaxing. Does it feel like I'm in a Hallmark movie? Yes. Do I like that this sounds like an egotistical, manipulative, user girl I knew back in the day who sang like this? No. Do I like this country/jazz fusion? Maybe...
Her voice is really pretty and the instruments are too. It's like listening to Christmas music, but it's not actually Christmas music. I think I like it.

Linda voz, canciones aburridas.

Rated 2/10

Oh my god. It's like if background music was recognized as a legitimate genre. It's so goddamn boring. It's so sanitized. How is this 15 songs and not a single one of them does anything interesting? It's insane. And I've seen people that love this album sing its praises, but it's almost always in the context of doing something else! Oh it's good for a dinner party, it's good for painting or crocheting, or for a pleasant drive on a sunny day.

What kind of album is it if people seem to enjoy it the most when they're not listening, and it's just filling space? I'm so sorry Norah Jones, I have the utmost respect for you. But I just. Can't. Vibe.

Rated 8/10

Pretty perfect for what it does right? Vocal jazz, adult contemporary whatever - you can definitely do it wrong and Norah Jones does it right

Rated 8/10

Aaah, Norah. Such a nice, relaxing album. Great voice, subtle, jazzy piano and a chill vibe. Some might write it off as dull, but at times this is just what you need to decompress.

Rated 6/10

Like the Brit’s and britpop - when you grew up a certain time this album was just inescapable.

The hits are absolutely incredible, but the rest of the album feels like sleepy filler just to get to the radio hits
