First full Police album. It's different and not at all what I thought they would sound like based on their greatest hits. Mother was weird. 3*
Highlights: every breath you take, synchronicity 2

Rated 10/10

Amazing record!!! I love everything Sting has done. Amazing voice and musicality overall. It's a shame that, from this record, only Every Breath You Take became a hit, because there are a lot of songs that are waaaaaaay better and more complex (not saying that that song is bad, it is an amazing song). Overall, I loved this record.

P.S.: What the hell is with the song Mother??!?!?!?!?!

Rated 10/10

Aunque Sting ha sido el Police que más ha trascendido creo que la percusiones eran otro de sus puntos fuertes. Imprescindible más allá de su super éxito del Every breath you take. El eclecticismo puede despistar, pero es mejor disfrutarlo. Me gustan Synchronicity I y II, Miss Gradenko, King of pain, Wrapped around your fingers y Tea in the Sahara. 5 estrellas.

Side 1 is very good, and side 2 is *great*. I’d be very surprised if this wasn’t my favorite album of theirs.

I lent this album to a girl named Jill who lived across the street. She moved to Hawaii a week later. Never heard from her again. . .

Rated 6/10

Not as good as they think it is, but still pretty decent. Overly long, oddly very prog (by 80s standards at least), a few good songs and a whole heap of filler. The most famous song is probably one of the most misunderstood stalker anthems ever.

I can see why this album is included on the list. The Police were a massive new wave and post-punk group in the late 70s and 80s, and their short catalog is considered iconic. Synchronicity, in particular, is stacked with some of their tightest and most poignant songs at their final hour, including the likes of both title tracks, "Walking in Your Footsteps", "Tea in the Sahara", and "Wrapped Around Your Finger". There's a problem though - "Mother" is on the first half of this album, and it is a blight. One of the few songs Sting didn't write, it's a creepy track where Andy Summers frantically sings about how "every girl becomes [his] mother in the end." I understand if Andy felt pressured by his mother growing up, but his struggle does not translate well into a song. If you end up listening to this album, feel free to skip the track; the rest is fine without it.

I've been wondering when/if we would get some Police on here. I can see this one being a bit divisive as The Police can sometimes make me sing along or roll my eyes with their occasional fake reggae. The only song on this album I instantly know I've heard is Every Breath You Take, the sweetest sounding song about a stalker you'll ever hear. A song that has confused many into thinking it is a pretty love song, but at its heart is about stalking someone. It's actually interesting to have achieved this level of confusion in a single song, arguably their greatest hit. Don't get me wrong though... it deserves its status. Catchy, pretty, light, dark all at the same time. So this album isn't that bad! In fact there are two songs that made me say... Wait... This is The Police? The two songs are Mother and Murder by Numbers. What the fuck are these songs? Mother is some weird Pink Floyd/Beatles shit where this screaming voice complains about his mother calling him and all his girlfriends turning into his mother. And then Murder by Numbers describes how to become a famous serial killer. This album has some baggage but it makes it so much better than the standard world pop that it might first seem to be.

When I had a walkman I had this on tape and listened to it a lot

Rated 6/10

Not as strong an album as I remembered from the eighties. Has its hits, but also some misses. Mother was just awful.

Rated 6/10

Already listened before. Fun album, not the best work by the police but it has a nice vibe. No bad tracks but not many standouts either.

Rated 1/10

This is not for me. i don't like Sting's voice. The reggae tinged tunes are not good. Mother is an abomination so bad it made me laugh put loud.

Rated 8/10

It’s… probably a really light 4, at least for me.

As an entire album, I think it does do a good job of keeping a consistent sound (except for Mother, what the fuck), but something could never fully hook me in to the whole thing. In terms of individual tracks, there are great ones on this album – obviously Every Breath You Take was a massive hit, but King of Pain & Wrapped Around Your Finger are both really, really good songs.

I don’t really have a good sense of The Police from before this album, and I have a much better sense of Sting’s solo work in the 90s, but it’s very apparent to me that this is a crowning achievement for both the band and himself, and I do think a lot of these songs have held up incredibly well for being 41 years old. It's honestly way closer to a 3 than a 5 for me, but I'm just satisfied enough to bump it up.

Rated 6/10

The singles are great, the others are bad. 2.7

Rated 4/10

The Police, to me, put out really soft, insipid, uninspired, nothing music. It's not dreadful, but it's just so, so weak.

1.5 rounded up.

Rated 6/10

Good album, probably Police best, and one you should take your time to listen too, but it’s not great, and I feel Police are one of those groups who have a number of great singles spread over a few of their albums. But if you need to listen to one police album it should be this one. But won’t be making my frequent rotation list anytime soon.

"Well every girl I go out with becomes my mother in the end"

The Police! The Fuzz, Popo, 12, the red and blue, it's not your dad's favorite band, but he'll play the hits.

I was excited for my first police album, and T1 - "Synchronicity I" started the album out with a good start. T2 - "Walking in your footsteps" annoyed me, and I hated that song, but if I hated that song, then I despised T4 - "Mother" which was probably one of the most unlistenable songs of this entire project, as of yet. T7 - "Every breath you take" is a classic, and T9 - "Wrapped around your finger" was a really nice hidden gem off of this album (playlist track).

Much like a clingy ex-girlfriend, this track was hot and cold, unbearably annoying at times, but the good parts almost make you want to forget about everything else and redeem it. but you can't, because jessica took your dog to the pound when she left.

Both Synchronicity I & Synchronicity II are very catchy & Every Breath You Take is still a masterpiece. Honestly, the second half of the album is very, very good. Some of the songs in the first half were way too stereotypical 80s pop, but the second half really makes up for it.

Rated 8/10

I didn't really get into the non-hit songs that I was already familiar with.
