Purple Rain is certainly a darn amazing album. This is my third (maybe fourth) time hearing a film soundtrack from this project (after both Air's Virgin Suicides, and Curtis Mayfield's Superfly and kinda Barry Adamson's Moss Side Story) but i can safely say that this is easily the best of the bunch. I also think its Prince's best album due to pretty much combining the best parts of both Sign 'O' The Times and 1999 without any of their issues. Every guitar riff is great, the vocals are something to behold and it is produced beautifully. I don't believe i can think of any issue that this album even has so it is getting a full 5 stars from me.
Best Song: Let's Go Crazy
Worst Song: Take Me with U
Side note: Since this will be my last Prince album, i will rank all of them
1. Purple Rain
2. 1999
3. Sign 'O' The Times

Absolutely iconic in every way imaginable, from creativity to variety to influence to performance to production to melody choice, etc., etc.
5.0/5.0: Iconic

fantastic album. the only song on the album that i dont really care for is i would die 4 u but the rest of the album is so good

Lots of very good songs. A couple of crazy vocals. Loses a star for the 80s production. Sorry Prince.

This one's gonna get me crucified, but I'm not a Prince fan. It's a collection of immaculately produced and performed songs that just do nothing for me.
And every time he goes into his high pitched screeches, it just takes me out of it.
The one song that I enjoy, When Doves Cry still has the issue of being two minutes too long.
Let's Go Crazy is a solid track too, but that's my extent of enjoyment from this record. It's just too pristine and doesn't have enough grit for me, and even when he tries to add the grit I'm looking for (such as with the aforementioned screams/screeches), it falls flat for me.
I admit this album is good (and probably great), it's just not for me.
Rated 6/10
Apart from Purple Rain and When Doves Cry, I didn't find anything that interesting. It was a good listen mostly because of these 2 songs.
Rated 4/10
I like the guitar work and the solos, but the cheesy 80s pop shit and the unrivalled horniness of Prince I just cannot enjoy whatsoever
Rated 8/10
No soy muy fan de Prince pero este álbum está muy bien. Hay momentos a medias del álbum que me noto un poco cansado de oírlo, pero terminar con Purple Rain es perfecto para dejar un gran sabor de boca.
Canción destacada: Purple Rain

Really nice album with great guitar as expected. Flows really well.

Not really into Prince or this album much. I can't get myself to enjoy this more 80's synth driven Funk. Perhaps its suffers from a lot of music in the decade wanting to sound like Prince. His guitar playing and songcraft is still incredible though. Let's Go Crazy is a fun song and When Doves Cry and Purple Rain are good songs even if overplayed. Don't really dig most of the album tracks on here, they either don't stick or have some weird other thing about them that I dislike. Small note but why the hell is the flower pattern on the sides of the album cover here?

Not bad but not my thing.

I'm going to use this review as an opportunity to flex...I was at Super Bowl XLI when Prince performed Purple Rain in the pouring rain. It was an amazing experience and absolutely colors how I review this album. Core memory unlocked, so just hearing the title track makes me want to give this album a 5. Trying to look at it objectively, this album is the epitome of 80s production. It would be great to hear these songs re-recorded with more modern production, but the bones of the songs are all outstanding so let's put that aside. Prince's talent shines through on every track, including singing, songwriting, and of course guitar playing. I want to ding the rating slightly for the oh-so-80s sound, but that just feels wrong. 5 it is. Favorite tracks: Let's Go Crazy (great sound, 80s or not), Take Me With U (very 80s, but good driving track), When Doves Cry (classic), I Would Die 4 U, and, of course, Purple Rain, Purple Rain (gotta say it twice). RIP Prince.

Prince has made a myriad of bad albums.
This is not one of them.

Holy hell this is a good album. The production value is insane and would have been amazing in any style he wanted to make. but with these songs its just about the most perfect album I think I've heard on this list yet. I found myself constantly grooving along to this. Man. I know I've heard every one of these songs individually, but to be on one album is incredible. 10/5

Prince is one of the GOATs and this album is definitely his defining statement. Simply iconic.
Rated 10/10
A lot of Prince's stuff is too sexy for me. This album is where it connects best though; there's a darkness that makes it more intriguing. Proper classic.

Best album I've gotten on here yet.
Rated 6/10
It feels very dramatic and over the top to me.
