I think, objectively, this is a good album. The songs all have some passion and energy to them, they're well crafted, and the melodies are nice. I'm generally not a fan of Bob Dylan, but I did have quite a nice time with this one. He needs to give his harmonica a fucking rest sometimes though.

Rated 4/10

To me, Bob Dylan is a poet. Every time one of his albums comes up, I'm never in the mood for it. I blame my secondary school for making poetry boring. Also, the harmonica didn't help matters.

Alles op dit album draait om de stem van Bob. Muzikaal knap om daarmee de juiste balans te vinden. Enige punt. Die stem is verschrikkelijk. Niet naar te luisteren. Met uitzondering van de nummers met countrybasis. Daar lijkt de stem van Bob voor te bestaan. Doe de rest maar gewoon niet .

He's a bad singer, who writes decent songs with good lyrics and bland predictable chord progressions. I truly thought this would be great, but it is no better than good in my opinion

When love affairs go wrong, they go spectacularly wrong, and when it’s an artist who has fucked up and/or gotten his heart broken, it’s the fans who reap the benefits. So what’s going on here in this at once disjointed and unified narrative? Well, it all started when he got nervous as she bent down to tie his shoes, and then he realized she was his twin...he swears he can change...people don’t know how to act around him...he’s only known careless love...he’s hoping that the cliché is true, that the darkest hour is right before the dawn...but he’s face down, just like the Jack of Hearts...he gets a chill whenever he thinks about how she left that night...he remembers how she gave him shelter from the storm...he’s seen people disappear like smoke. He’s saying goodbye to more than just her, and the regret stabs through almost every song.

If you've not heard the New York Sessions bootleg, do yourself a favor!

Dylan at his best.

What a discovery. Of course I knew Dylan from his hits (and the well-known Blonde on Blonde and Highway 61 albums.)
But I never really listened to this one and must say I personally think this might be Dylan's best!
Sparkling, bitter, sneering, intimate AND intense music.

Rated 10/10

Dylan’s comeback masterpiece, the bar that all Dylan albums following this were compared to and that other artists comeback albums are compared to.

Rated 10/10

The reason I love Dylan is the same reason I love Willie Nelson. Enchantingly simple arrangements and enthrallingly detailed narratives.

Rated 8/10

Bob Dylan can just flat out tell a story in his music. I get the people who just "don't like his voice" but I find it interesting and even if it was the worst ever, the stories are still just flat out stellar.

Rated 8/10

I'm a bigger fan of Dylan's earlier works but this one is still really great. The production is stellar and it has some fantastic storytelling.

Rated 8/10

Enjoyable album. Really have never listened to full album Dylan before. Felt it got a little repetitive at the end and the songs were a bit long. 4/5

Rated 10/10

To me, this is his last 5 star masterpiece album. Me and my friends were practically Dylan cultists back in high school so this one is burned into me. Probably the most personal Dylan ever got and perhaps the greatest breakup album of all time.

Rated 10/10

Grande Dylan. O Raul Seixas dos estates
