I can only imagine how good the threesome with some very liberal hippie chicks would have been to this album. On the other hand there's a LOT of "white guys play something influenced by blues" floating around this list and, in my humble, Cream are not the best at it.

One of the first hard rock records ever. Love the distorted noisy guitar on it. Lots of great tracks like Strange Brew, Tales of Brave Ulysses and of course Sunshine of your love. Not every track is as great, but I enjoy listening to all of them.

Rated 4/10

The worse kind of psych nodding nice drumming though

The first third of this album I like. It’s got some chill groovy songs, then there’s Blue Condition which I didn’t like. Ulysses brought it back but the rest of the album didn’t thrill me. Mostly just boring bar blues rock and one novelty song at the end. It’s between a two and a three for me, but I’ll give it a three cause I liked almost half of it.

Great album. Some of the best psychedelic rock (I wouldn't say it's trippy though). The only song I hate is Blue Condition and I'm not sure why. Why Disraeli Gears? Something something some guy mixed up a British prime minister's last name from the 1800's with a type of bicycle gear. SWLABR? (Great song by the way) She Walks (or is it Was?) Like A Bearded Rainbow! I immediately fell in love with Sunshine of Your Love years ago. Arguably Cream's best song. What pisses me off though is that Clapton said shit like "Keep Britain White" and then didn't want to perform on a stage where there was a "discriminated audience" during Covid when concert-goers had to be vaccinated. So on the one hand the man is discriminating about who can live in the country he lives in and then feels his audience is discriminated against because they won't do something not only helpful for themselves but helpful for everyone in attendance at a concert? Hypocrite. Now I can hardly stand to listen to Clapton. I'm going to still rate this highly because it is essential and it is a great piece of music and because other personnel were involved (I do not know their political stances). Fuck Clapton though. I used to look up to him when I was little. Now I just see another old racist conservative white man that used to play the guitar really well (and probably stole most of his riffs from black music anyway - hypocrite).

Quentesential 70's rock. Iconic.

Rated 8/10

Sehr langes Album, was sich aber gut hören ließ. Ein bisschen Peace mit psychedelic Stil, ein bisschen Doors, etwas Folk und auch was rockiges. Abwechslungsreich mit klaren Stimmen und passendem Arrangements. Gut gefielen “World of Pain” und “Sunshine Of your Love”. Wiederholung- auf jeden Fall 😊 Wenn ihr Euch fragt wer der Lead-Sänger der Band ist, es ist Eric Clapton 😊

Rated 6/10

Sunshine of my Heart is a must at every party of my generation. Simply great. The rest of the album is surprisingly unimpressive.

Sunshine of Your Love is an ultraclassic. This original classic rock sound through a british lens just shows those guys across the pond were crazy about the blues. I am just not into this proto psychadelic blues rock sound.

Rated 8/10

En af de bedre. Sunshine of your love er en af mine yndlings numre med Clapton!

Rated 8/10

It’s kinda wild how every album from 1967 sounds pretty much exactly the same. Only knowing the hits, I hadn’t realized how similar most of Disraeli Gears sounds to Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Sgt. Pepper, Her Majesty’s Satanic Request, etc.
Like everyone really seemed to be on the exact same acid trip that year.
Also “Tales of Brave Ulysses” remains an absolute banger!

Rated 4/10

There are a few good riffs and heavy sounds on here that presage what Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin would extend in the following years. There are also some real stinkers (Blue Condition, yikes) too though, and a lot of it just middling. Brave Ulysses is decent, but basically just a first draft of White Room. Plenty of fun guitar playing, but Clapton has to the luckiest right place/right time musician - just being around as a competent blues guy when fuzz and wah-wah pedals came out and plugging into that gives him this reputation as a pioneering wizard. The falsetto vocals are so annoying. I guess they were an exciting live band that jammed these songs out beyond the confines of mid 60s blues rock - the way the bass/drums hit on here I can see how that would work, but as a studio album it doesn't really capture that thrill.

Rated 6/10

Ginger Baker’s weird snare tuning and signature Tom sound. He also sings a song on this album, which was possibly not a great idea. Everyone was under the influence here, including the producer, how else to explain “Mother’s Lament 😭”
The best songs on the album are the ones you’re familiar with - Sunshine of Your Love, Tales of Brave Ulysses, Strange Brew. Which are great. Except for these standouts, it feels a little low-effort. Clapton was beloved back when this came out, but his style never touched me all that much. And apparently he was just as much of an a*hole in his early years as later (citation: A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs, episode 126 - For Your Love by the Yardbirds, Andrew Hickey) so anything he could say now to turn people against him is pretty irrelevant now.

Ultimately for me there’s a lot to love here (Sunshine of Your Love, Jack Bruce’s falsetto) and a lot to just forget (Blue Condition, bearded rainbows).

Rated 4/10

My God there's a lot of psychedelic rock from the late sixties on this list. Pretty bloody awful for the most part. A couple of bearable songs on there

Rated 6/10

Wanted to like it so much but alas it’s fine.

Rated 8/10

After listening to it in full, I can safely say that Cream is a great album. The guitar riffs were catchy and really fun to listen to and the vocals fit every song perfectly and on top of that, the album was the perfect length. I guess it seems that Psychedelic Rock has proven itself to me.
Best Song: SWLABR
Worst Song: Strange Brew

Rated 6/10

Imagine being in high school and a friend suits down next to you and without any context asks "do you like Cream?" Only to find out that this is what he was talking about. My answer is "it's ok." Clapton is a great guitarist, but as a whole, this misses the mark. It's definitely not bad, just not something I'd return to. 3/5

It's alright. Kind of floaty and jangly. I like the playing on this, but not so sure about the main vocals. It sounds like he's being gently haunted by a ghost throughout. "ooOooo a ghhooOOooost"
