The best completely new (to me) thing this list has given me so far. I have no idea how I’d never even heard of this yet, everything about this album like the genres and description sound absolutely up my street.

Almost psychedelic country rock that is just so so catchy, it’s been stuck in my since listening to it. I clicked instantly with over half of the songs, loving them from the get go, and over 2 more listens through this I’ve clicked with the other half.

This album is incredible

Its only taken me a year and 275 albums to get to an album on my personal top 13 albums of all time and here it is! This album is so phenomenal to me I cannot believe it was panned on its release. It starts with a very Byrd’s type song-Life’s Greatest Fool-almost as if to say, remember me? I was that guy. It swiftly moves onto an ephemeral song about a raven, a wonderfully heavy bass-based No Other to the epic Strength of Strings. I love the alliteration in From a Silver Phail. I mean “said she saw the sword of sorrow sunken in the sand of searching souls” who can do better than that? We are left with the last three wonderful tracks, one by Dillard. If I could give this album a million stars I would.

Rated 6/10

Mostly countryish soft rock music with spiritual lyrics and an occasional chorus of women singing in the background. There are some interesting arrangements on here, but the consistently mellow, yearning vibe made it unappealing to me, though not enough to send it to the 2-star basement.

This is about as mediocre an album as I have heard in this project. Nothing about it stands it to me in a “you’ve gotta hear this!” way. Average mellow 70s rock music with a vaguely country twinge. Mostly plodding tempo. There is a track called “True One” near the end that has some nice guitar work. But overall I am not impressed.

Despite my lack of enthusiasm about yet another Byrds or Byrds-adjace album, especially after the boredom Clark's own White Light album brought me earlier in this list, but this is actually a stunning, lush tapestry that blends folk, gospel, and psychedelic rock (always a favourite for me). Tracks like "Silver Raven" and "Strength Of Strings" are absolute standouts, offering a haunting, spiritual experience, but with a unique, baroque depth that is entirely Clark's own.

It is genuinely tragic to learn that this record was a commercial failure that effectively ended Clark's career, as the production is impeccable and the songwriting is top-tier. The album feels like a journey, moving from the bouncy, country-inflected opener "Life's Greatest Fool" into deep, raga-like trances and epic, eight-minute explorations like "Some Misunderstanding." It’s the kind of record that demands your full attention. It’s soulful, melancholy, and incredibly beautiful.

I really don't like country sounds. I do like the Neil Young folky stuff though.

Pues no lo conocía y me ha gustado bastante. No me he guardado ninguna canción en favoritos, pero después de escuchar este disco estuve toda la tarde escuchando cosas de él.

This hits that rock-country sweet spot perfectly and turns the smooth vibes dial up to 11. There are heavenly slide guitars all over the place, gorgeous close harmonies, barroom piano, and a laid back feel. He wears the country style naturally and without affectation, fitting right into the twangy sound on True One. Life's Greatest Fool and Silver Phial ad a lush gospel sound with a backing choir. Silver Raven is a stunning minor key acoustic driven song with an tender swelling guitar lead woven between the lyrics and CSNY sounding dark harmonies. No Other, Lady of the North and Strength of Strings have a more ecclectic prog/psych feel to them with synths, organs and wah-wah guitars playing vibey riffs in harmony.

Rated 2/10

This is country music masquerading as rock and it can go fuck itself.

Rated 6/10

70s soft rock isn't really my wheelhouse so I'm not sure how much I will return to this, but it is cool as far as that goes. I like the psychedelic elements.

Booooooooring.
