The VisitorsABBA

Rated 6/10

I don’t mind ABBA, they’ve got their place in pop history and certainly had plenty of bangers. I liked some of this but equally parts of it that felt like a bit of a drag to get through. A decent effort though.

I have absolutely no idea what I’ve just experienced but I kind of like it! Not sure how to describe what I’ve just listened to but it’s fair to say it’s not like any of the previous 628 albums we’ve had so far! Which was fantastic! Ok so the vocals were ‘interesting’ and of course I don’t know what he was ‘singing’ but the sound was great and the vocals strangely seemed to work set against the music.

Completely bonkers but it had me hooked! Really liked it. Les couilles du chien!

I used to really dislike Nothing Compares to U back as a kid. But now I don’t mind it as much, listening to it as an adult it’s a great song. As for the album as a whole I found it started slow and dipped at the end but there was a run of good songs in the middle.

Having got ready for a football match in a changing room paid for by Phil Collins, I feel compelled to give this a bonus star. I got the man of the match award that day too. Probably my only one. Thanks Phil.

Oh and by the way, this wasn’t a great listen.

First listen I had this on in the background and it seemed alright. Second listen I paid more attention to it and found myself getting a bit bored with it after a while. Dance music does struggle to hold my attention after a while.

I’m not really sure how to rate this. I assume it’s alright but the reality is I’m never likely to listen again and if I was ever wondering what music to play this would never spring to mind.

An eclectic mix of tracks, never really seemed to follow a formula. Which at least helped try to keep the interest up over the 75 mins.

Probably about a 3.5 rating but bumped up to 4 as an early birthday gift to TGL.

This is a good record with a nice, chilled vibe whist also retaining the interest all the way through. Good stuff.
