SuedeSuede

Rated 8/10

I don’t think I’ve ever fully appreciated just how good this album is, I certainly didn’t at the time it came out. However set against everything else that was out at the time, and to follow shortly afterwards, it’s a breath of fresh air. The sound alone is not like anything else that was being released at the time. Ok so there are a couple of tracks I would skip but the majority is very good.

Not listened to this since around the time it came out and I’m not sure I’ll listen again in a hurry. I mean it’s ok, a couple of the album tracks (e.g. Innocent Smile) I liked more than the singles. But it just doesn’t feel as good as some of the similar sounding stuff their contemporaries realeased (e.g. Supergrass, Weezer). But it was alright. I suspect a lot of these tracks probably sound better live than recorded.

The SliderT. Rex

Rated 6/10

I really liked the previous T.Rex offering but this one didn’t keep my attention as much. Didn’t seem quite as interesting as the last one and ended up dragging a bit.

I actually quite enjoyed the first two songs but then the initial optimism soon waned. Some of it was alright but I agree that the Pogues did it better.

Queen IIQueen

Rated 10/10

A lot of the so called ‘big bands/artists’ flatter to deceive with albums that really aren’t great outside the big, well known hits. However from both offerings we’ve had so far Queen seem to buck this trend. Through this I’ve discovered many great songs of theirs I’ve never heard of as I’d always just been aware of the hits.

Their albums are actually full of great songs and this one doesn’t disappoint. Really liked the album as a a whole and a number of really good songs on it. The more I listened the more it grew on me. Superb.
