So much fun! Had me dancing the whole time. Reminded me of a more refined Igloo Ghost

Pretentious folksy just isn't my vibe, but it was at least done competently with some fun

Pop perfection. Most interesting diverse sound in pop of the decade.

Maybe if this was my firsts The National album or if I was having a better day this would be five stars, but I still feel the same disappointment I felt the first time I listened to it when it came out. It's missing some frantic energy that I adore about them. Still very good though.

The soundtrack of the next five years.

Somehow this sounded like the 90s

Iambic 9 was awesome, and so much of the sound of the whole album was unique and interesting, but by the end it dissolved into noise.
Rated 10/10
The start of the album did not prepare me for the journey of sonic diversity this album would bring. What fun
Rated 10/10
I was very surprised by how diverse and entertained the album kept me. Will revisit.

Tough every song was awesome, as an album it did not feel like a cohesive whole

So many cool songs and fun sounds, brilliant debut

Brass. Discordant brass. Brass as discordant as it can get while still being music. This is now in my top 10 albums.

Perfection let down by poor lyrics, I can overlook it for how great the music is.

Alt rock so good I can forgive not enjoying the voice. Lost a little steam in the final three tracks.

Surprisingly interesting for being so paired back. Great strings work.

A master of story telling and emotional landscapes. The understated music is so perfect.

Everything is better with brass, especially a diverse jazzy alt rock album

Everylong is a top song of all time, and the weirder entries were buoyed by Monkey Wrench and My Hero.
Rated 10/10
Catching female lead alt rock, what's not to love
Rated 6/10
Good Reggae backing music, kind of felt like it was missing something overtop.
