There was a brief moment of nostalgia for the sound of the old dial-up modem (I’m old). That was the highlight of this one. Now I’ve heard it, I’ll be stunned if I ever voluntarily listen to it again.
Ooh! I just saw that as of today this is THE LOWEST rated album on the list! I am going to help it stay that way. Good to get this one done.

Not sure how this is the same guy who made an album I rated one star and compared to Ren Faire music!
This album was very enjoyable- has a roadhouse blues feel to much of it.
What a pleasant surprise!

It took a few listens for me to “get” this album. It’s pretty moody, so if you’re not in that mode it’s easy to miss. I still prefer more melody and more energy, but I ended up catching the vibe and not disliking it (which was my initial reaction).

I was ready to give this for starts. Then I re-listened and realized that many of the tracks I liked the most were covers of songs that I really liked. And generally the originals were better. So I would be giving them stars for choosing to cover good songs and covering them adequately. Of course there are some good originals on here but I think I’m going to have to knock it down to three stars because it’s really mostly covers.

I’m appreciate the man’s guitar prowess but somehow his music die m rarely moves me. On this album I kept hearing songs that reminded me of his other songs and I realized he didn’t necessarily push himself as much as he might have. So as amazing as his debut album was, this feels like more of the same. Not that I could ever get close, or many others, to his skill level. It’s just that his style stays consistent and doesn’t resonate with me.

Repetitive and annoying. It was tough to stick it out to the end. I wanted it to be over halfway through the second song. Apparently this is 90’s rave music. The only way I can remotely think this might be enjoyable is with some strong drugs. Repetitive and annoying. Repetitive and annoying. Repetitive and annoying.

It’s not even that long of an album but I was tired of it long before it was over. I will say that the song Get Free is a banger though. That’s the only one I had heard before and I have always liked that song.
Wikipedia says this band was compared to Nirvana which is a real stretch. I guess towards the end of the track Ain’t No Room I can hear the singer trying to find his inner Cobain. But I mainly hear Beatles influences.
Overall this is pretty generic alt-pop. Pretty much the epitome of a bland inoffensive three star album.

You either like this stuff or you don’t. It all sounds like one running song to me, to the point that Spotify kept playing Herbie Hancock and I didn’t realize we had moved on to some other album. It’s background music that doesn’t even register as background music.

I suppose much of the music on here is three star worthy. But the ad concept annoys me and because it’s the Who and I know they can do so much better I’m only giving them two. (Would do 2.5 if I could)

Screaming vocals is an instant turn off for me.
I may give it two stars just to reward its brevity.

Plenty of pretty harmonizing, but so bland I can already tell that I’m not going to remember this album later today.

Thin Lizzy is one of my “exception to the rule” bands. I’m pretty sure they are considered to be heavy metal, and generally I don’t like heavy metal music. But I really like Thin Lizzy. They have a bit of bluesy aspect at times, the vocals are good and don’t involve screaming, the solos are pristine and you can usually hear them clearly. I don’t think they feel the need to be stuck in one specific sound. They’re really talented, really fun. I can’t give this album five stars because when I read about it, this album found a cheat code: they went back through all their concert recordings and picked the best version of each song. Then did some studio dubbing. The dubbing probably happens on most live albums but it’s more the cherry picking that gets to me. But it’s a solid four stars for me. 🤘🏻

5 stars. Great energy but mixes things up nicely. Didn’t all sound the same but you always know it’s them. One banger after another really. It’s the Clash ! Let’s go!

Such pretty harmonizing. They’re doing their best Beatles impression on some of these tracks. Trafalgar for example, is blatant. It’s very pretty, but some of the songs drag and I found myself wishing for some disco energy!

I raised three sons and listened to alot of Beasties. License to Ill is still my favorite, but this one keeps my toes tapping too. Nothing too serious, easy to play along.
