90's Welsh indie/alt rock mixed with a touch of britpop. Same kinda vein as Oasis or Travis (remember that Scottish band that was actually good? Lol). From what I've read, they were trying to break out of Wales at the same time as Manic Street Preachers and just got left in their dust so never got the worldwide recognition that MSP got. These guys are every bit as good or better than them though in my opinion.

Insanely abrasive.... Speed Freaks will love this. Same Grindcore vein as Napalm Death. Should be called Ear Destroyer. These fellas seem to be quite upset about something.

This is Canadian art rock from Montreal. It sounds like a modern mash up of Talking Heads and David Bowie. Really solid!

It's like a Renaissance Fair on Acid (and I mean that in the best way possible).

This is like if Nick Cave, Einsturzende Neubaten, and Tom Waits had a mutant child. Super weird, noise/experimental rock mixed with industrial and found sound. The foundations of this music is solid, then everything laid overtop is insane. It grew on me more and more as the album went on. As of the end of the album it is sitting at a mid-3. This weird stuff is the kinda unhinged stuff I like to be exposed to on this list. It may sound chaotic and insane, and it is.... But it is founded in solid musical themes.

The fact that this wasn't on the original list is criminal. This is a super strong debut album. Unreal talent! Magic Man is a gem!! My favorite Heart song.

This album, ironically enough, doesn't sound like that abysmal surfer rock that I'm used to with The Beach Boys. Apparently at the time of this record, Brian Wilson was actively going bananas as well as doing copious amounts of drugs, so he took a step back from the recording studio. The bulk of this album showcases Dennis Wilson as well as Bruce Johnston's abilities moreso than other albums. Because of that, I get it's inclusion on the post list, but it still retains the "do do dooos" and "La La laaas" in the background that I hate so much.

So to sum up... This is not my cup of tea, but it's better than traditional Beach Boys fare.

Beautifully woven chamber pop/folk/singer songwriter, verging on gothic country/Americana.

Oh my God, what a literal gut punch the song "A House in Nebraska" is... So much pain laid out in this song... So powerful....

It's been a long time since an album this powerful came across this post list. Everyone should just sit back and absorb this album. Maybe it's because I got this album on a rainy grey Tuesday, but it really hit right today for me.

Another insanely poetic song on this album is Family Tree. Verses such as:

The fates already fucked me sideways,
Swinging by my neck from the family tree,
He'll laugh and say "You know I raised you better than this",
Then leave me hanging so they can laugh at me...

And

I've killed before and I'll kill again,
Take the noose off and wrap it tight around my hand,
They say "heaven hath no fury like a woman scorned",
And baby Hell don't scare me, I've been there before...

Insane imagery.

Truly, thank you OP. This is a hell of an album!
