Wtf Robert Dimnery....a gross French album about pedophilia?? Why??
Before I even understood what this album's theme was (a man falls in love with a 14 year old girl named Melody, and proceeds to seduce her), it gave me an uneasy feeling. The music is fine, but Serge whispers in your ear, and it's just gross. I feel like he is trying to bang me. Fuck off Serge. This prick should be on an FBI watch list...

This is the album that features Duran Duran's 2 huge hits (Rio, and Hungry Like the Wolf). Cheesy 80's synth pop, but surprisingly not a bad album. They were always a band I just filed under 80's cheese and didn't really explore their back catalog, but there are some solid songs on here. The bass work in New Religion slaps! Surprisingly, their hits aren't their best work. I think it may be because their hits were played to death on radios and they just kinda became bland and boring as a result.
Favorite songs: New Religion, Hungry Like the Wolf, Rio, Hold Back the Rain, Last Chance on the Stairway, My Own Way, Lonely In Your Nightmare

60's acid rock. These guys are one of the bands credited with starting the psychadelic genre. It's not bad. This is the transition period. There are psychadelic elements to it, but it isn't way out there like other bands in the psychadelic genre would be in future years ..at the point of this album it was like garage rock made by people who were fucked up on LSD. It's like a more weird Blue Cheer. Interestingly, this band had a member who played the "electric jug". Literally a jug that he would blow into next to a microphone.

Sheryl Crow is the kinda artist that you tend to forget how iconic her music is. Really solid album, especially for a debut album!! I feel like I don't give Sheryl the attention she deserves. I haven't thought of her in like 20 years, but then when ya go back and listen to her music again, it is great. I think it may be because her music was played to death on the radio stations in the 90's/00's.
One thing I never noticed before, but immediately heard upon today's listen was how the well known riff from Barenaked Ladies song "Pinch Me" was taken directly from Sheryl Crow's song "Leaving Las Vegas". Another interesting note: If you like Sheryl Crow's song "Strong Enough", look up Adam Baldwin's cover version...I like it even more!

Shitty electro-indie? They do a cover of Neil Young's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" that isn't horrible...the rest of the album is forgettable at best...another useless pick by Robert Dimnery for essential albums...
Big surprise....they're British....it's surprising how different musical tastes are on both sides of the pond. That is something I've definately learned through this generator. All this Britpop/electro horseshit....I just....don't care ....it doesn't translate over here.
Nothing Can Stop Us is the original version of Kylie Minogue's hit. This version sucks as much as Kylie's.
Favorite songs: Only Love Can Break Your Heart, Spring

Terrible vocals, disjointed song structure, absolutely no flow to the album at all....not really what I'd call essential listening...
There is no reason why Dexy's Midnight Runners need 3 albums on this list. Too-Rye-Ay deserved a spot, but this shit?!? The last fleeting noises of a band on the brink of collapse?!? Robert Dimnery has lost his marbles. They were only included because they're British....

The first song on the album was a rendition of Bo Diddley's Who Do You Love (a 25 minute rendition, broken down into 6 parts). Overall, a mid psychadelic rock album. Founded in good music, but the acid takes a hold of them a few times. I will say, I like their version of Who Do You Love way more than George Thorogood's
