Scott 2Scott Walker

Rated 4/10

It's like fucking Michael Buble meets Nick Cave. Baroque pop or chamber pop. Super boring. His other album I had (Scott 4) was more rock oriented. This leans further to the crooning/pop. Definately not in my wheelhouse. Hate this crooning shit.

Favourite songs: Black Sheep Boy, Jackie

Least favourite songs: Next.... and others.....

2/5....i dunno.... I lost interest very early on.

The definition of 80's cheese. The highs are high, but the lows are awful and drag the rest of the record down.

Favourite songs: Shout, Everybody Wants to Rule the World

Least favourite songs: I Believe, The Working Man, Listen

Non disco Bee Gee's is weird. I mean, I hate disco, but when someone says the band name Bee Gee's, what you expect to get is fuckin Stayin' Alive. This album is more soft rock/pop. It is apparently a failed attempt at a concept album about the sinking of a ship in 1899, and its a double album. The band fought so much about the direction of the album, and which songs should be released as singles, Robin Gibb temporarily quit the band.

Favourite songs: Give Your Best, Marley Purt Drive, Lamplight, Melody Fair, First of May, Odessa (City on the Black Sea)

Least favourite songs: The British Opera

Awful. I kept losing focus. Just shitty music and shouting. Why the fuck is this on this list?

Favourite songs: Dynamite Lover, 2Kindsa Love, Wail, Rocketship

Least favourite songs: Skunk (what a fucking jarring way to start an album.... With blood curdling screaming..... Wtf......), Fuck Shit Up, Sticky, Yellow Eyes, Radio Ad: Announcer #, Radio Ad: Ernie Eddie, Radio Ad: Announcer #2, Radio Ad: Secret Sez-Me

2/5

The most boring "club music" I've ever heard. This is like hotel lobby music. It is so bland. It like R&B mixed with electronica. Not great. Not noteworthy. Not necessary listening. Garbage.

Favourite songs: Feeling Free, Holdin' On

Least favourite songs: Back to Life, Feel Free, Jazzie's Groove

Horrible indie/alt rock garbage. Singer has the most monotoned voice ever. They got the word Chore right.... It is a Chore to listen to.

While listening to Temptation of Egg, my 4yr old son put his fingers in his ears and said he didn't like it. He has more sense then the complete morons who thought this album belongs on this list. This is absolute hipster indie/alt rock garage. Nothing about this is good.

Favourite songs: Dirty From the Rain, Shiver

Least favourite songs: Temptations of Egg, and the rest of this piece of shit record...

Gram Parsons joined the band at this point in their history, and they completely embraced the country rock sound with this album. Definately a change from their prior albums, which were heavier to psychadelic rock. I mean, they always had a few country rock songs on each of their older albums, but this album is fully committed to the country sound. It is fantastic!

Favourite songs: Pretty Boy Floyd, Lazy Days, I Am a Pilgrim, Pretty Polly, Life in Prison, You Ain't Goin' Nowhere, Blue Canadian Rockies

Least favourite songs: The Christian Life

This is classified as noise rock. It is sonic abuse of bass and drums. Organized chaos. An assult on the senses, but I can see the direction of it. That doesn't make it good, but better than just noise. It was an interesting listen for sure. Not good, but interesting. Apparently the band started as a trio, but the singer left to make another band. That left the drummer and the bassist. The drummer became the new singer/drummer, and instead of investing in a mic stand, he just put the mic in his mouth and wailed onto the drums and sang with a mic in his mouth lol. So you have no idea what he is saying, it is just distorted noise, but it matches the rest of the noise going on.

Favourite songs: 2 Towers, Crown of Storms, Dracula Mountain

Least favourite songs: Wonderful Rainbow

More lackluster indie music from one of the dudes from Arctic Monkeys (Alex Turner). Not really my cup of tea, but not bad. Nothing really stands out to say "man, I really needed to listen to this record". It sounds like most other indie albums I've listened to (like those of Arcade Fire or Interpol)

Favourite songs: Separate and Ever Deadly, The Meeting Place, Calm Like You, In My Room

Least favourite songs: The Chamber, I Don't Like You Anymore

No....

I fucking hate R&B. It just makes my skin crawl... This is in the same realm as Solange or D'Angelo. Erykah's voice is so nasally and horrible. Nothing about this album was enjoyable. It was horrid...

Favourite songs: Booty

Least favourite songs: Kiss Me On My Neck, Orange Moon... And the rest of this album....

Huge shot of nostalgia with this album today! I owned the CD of it in high school and played the hell out of it. One of the strongest debut albums ever! Phenomenal album!

These guys sound a lot like The Flaming Lips. That like psychadelic rock/indie/chamber pop crossover. Super ethereal sounding. Some pretty solid ideas on this record, and some really odd choices as well.

For example, in the middle of the song Endlessly, it sounds like they sample the Christmas Carol, Silent Night. Also, they use some form of "instrument" to make that shitty ghost sound effect that was big in the 90's around the same point in the song. They brought the shitty ghost sound back for the song Pick Up If You're There.

This is definately a rear loaded album. After the song I Collect Coins, the album gets loads better.

Favourite songs: Goddess on a Hiway, Opus 40, Holes, The Funny Bird, Hudson Line

Least favourite songs: Endlessly, Pick Up If You're There

Spotify linked to the Deluxe Edition of this album, so that is the one I listened to and reviewed here. The original album is ok, nothing to jump up and down about. There is a 17 minute song about blowjobs on it (Sister Ray), so ya know, top marks for that, lol. There is also a comical 8 minute spoken word song that tells the story of a lad named Waldo who mailed himself to his girlfriends place because he was afraid that she was getting railed by different dudes.

The additional content on the deluxe edition (some extra songs, and some live content) is really solid. Truthfully, I feel that the deluxe edition of the album brings this album from like a 3.5 to a 4 star. Some really solid tunes, and a bit less experimental.

Favourite songs: Stephanie Says, Beginning to See the Light, Guess I'm Falling In Love, Run Run Run, Sister Ray, The Gift

Least favourite songs: I Heard Her Call My Name

Another stellar Dylan album from his run of "rock oriented" albums that he released in the 60's. Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat is one of my favourite Dylan songs ever. It's fantastic. Only reason it isn't at the top of my "favourite songs" list for this album is because it was the top song from his live album: Live 1966: "The Royal Albert Hall Concert" that I've already reviewed, and I don't want to duplicate favourites between records.

Favourite songs: Obviously Five Believers, Absolutely Sweet Marie, Visions of Johanna, Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat, Rainy Day Women #12 & 35, Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues Again, Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine), Just Like a Woman, I Want You

Least favourite songs: Temporary Like Achilles
