Ever wonder what it would be like to stand outside of a cave while a concert is going on inside said cave? This album makes that a reality. So much reverb (especially on lyrics... Making them utter nonsense, and indistinguishable).... Fucking awful. No trouble to tell that Noah Lennox got his start with Animal Collective. This is very similar to that.

I hear some Boy & Bear in this music (perhaps from the chamber folk adjacent sound? Or perhaps the reverb heavy vocals? Idk...). It also sounds like if The Beach Boys did even more drugs, and got into chamber pop in a big way. Anywho, this is tolerable, but not in my wheelhouse at all. I would never spin this on my own. It has its moments, but most of it I hate I'm afraid...

The fact that this album isn't on the original list is criminal. Thanks OP for including it! This is considered by many to be the "jumping off" point for the genre of prog rock. This album is performed with backing by the London Festival Orchestra. Absolutely stellar. Also, a concept album that flows together seamlessly. Absolutely mandatory listening! Just what the doctor ordered after a few mid modern indie folk albums! Listen up children, this is what music is!

Way too long. That fact ends up hurting the album review a bit. By 45 mins, the album could have ended comfortably, but we had to endure another 20 mins or so past that, and it just started to get old fast.

Dude is trying to convey the fact that the album was released or takes place in deep space, so he keeps pulling sound and lyrics into and out of focus, replacing music with fuzz, so it's kinda like a radio station that isn't quite on the right frequency.... You know..... To piss everyone off. Fuck this guy.

When he fucks off and raps, it's not bad, but most of it is just experimental garbage.

I got this album a day after Dolly's passing. RIP Dolly, you are a national treasure. She had the look, the voice, the personality... So humble... Just a hell of a good person. You will be missed.

Like a Dollar Store Weird Al knockoff that is obsessed with monkeys. Don't take it too seriously, that's kinda the point. It suffers a bit from having such a long runtime, and the constant mention of monkeys loses its shine after a bit... I think the maximum on "songs about monkeys on one album" is about 2...
