Fly or DieN*E*R*D

Rated 6/10

Today's album is rap rock or funk rock maybe. My first thought was: This singer sounds a lot like Pharell Williams. Turns out it IS Pharell! Definately an odd melding of genres. Makes sense since Pharell is big into bending the borders between musical genres. This album is interesting for sure!

Favourite songs: Fly or Die, The Way She Dances, Don't Worry About It, Backseat Love, She Wants to Move, Thrasher, Maybe

Least favourite songs: Wonderful Place

Why the fuck are there so many Radiohead albums on this list? This marks 5 that I've reviewed so far. It's honestly like nails on a fucking chalkboard for me. I just really don't get the appeal. Ya wanna know what Thom Yorke is good at? Moaning.

Favourite songs: Myxomatosis

Least favourite songs: Sail to the Moon, Backdrifts, We Suck Young Blood, The Gloaming, I Will, A Wolf At the Door

The Kinks are like the beginnings of punk, mixed with rock and a dash of pop rock. Fantastic album! The third of theirs I've had on this album generator.

Least favourite songs: I'm Not Like Everybody Else

This album is fantastic!! Never heard of Janelle before, but this is really solid! Genre is listed as prog soul or psychadelic pop. Seems accurate. Hard genre to nail down, but it works, whatever if is. Suite II was better than Suite III. This is a super strong debut album!

Favourite songs: Cold War, Come Alive (War of the Roses), Tightrope, Dance or Die, Locked Inside, Faster, Mushrooms & Roses

Least favourite songs: BaBopByeYa

1989Taylor Swift

Rated 8/10

This is Taylor Swift's first non country album. It has Blank Space and Shake it Off on it. Those are both bangers. Oddly enough, this album is solid. For teeny Bop pop that is. Better than I expected for sure.

Favourite songs: Shake it Off, Blank Space, Style, All You Had to Do Was Stay, Welcome to New York, Clean

Least favourite songs: Bad Blood

Fuck sakes, not another Eno record ffs...

Reading the Wikipedia article on this album:

The album’s only chart success was in New Zealand.... So why the fuck is it on this list

Eno utilised a variety of unconventional recording techniques and instrumental approaches.... Fuck. So basically, Eno wails on inanimate objects and calls it music...

There is a song on this record where Eno's only vocals are looped and he just keeps saying "I'll come running to tie your shoes"..... Leave my fucking shoes alone man.

This record is awful. Not sure why it is on this list. Not Eno's worst, but still Eno.

Favourite songs: St. Elmo's Fire

Least favourite songs: Little Fishes

Yet another Byrds album today. They are experimenting with playing tapes in reverse with this album.... It's weird.

Favourite songs: My Back Pages, Time Between, Have You Seen Her Face, So You Want To Be a Rock 'N' Roll Star, Old John Robertson

Least favourite songs: Mind Gardens, Everybody's Been Burned

This is the album that killed The Beatles apparently. Paul made it in secret, and they all got pissed when he released it because it took the shine off of the album they released: Let It Be. Apparently both albums dropped on the same day, and McCartney refused to change the release date.

McCartney's album feels unfinished. Like he had a bunch of ideas and quickly scrambled to put them on tape. It's not the worst thing I've ever heard, but if he had spent more time on it and actually recorded it in a studio instead of his own house, I think it would have been better. I feel the album is more of a fuck you to the Beatles than anything.

Favourite songs: Maybe I'm Amazed, Oo You, Momma Miss America, Man We Was Lonely, Every Night, Junk

Least favourite songs: The Lovely Linda

C’est ChicChic

Rated 6/10

I had another of CHIC's albums on here before (Risque). This album has that song Le Freak on it which is solid. The rest of the album was mediocre. The thing I hate about disco is the music is funky and usually fairly solid, but they sing a chorus, then keep repeating it for like 5 minutes and call it a song. The music has no substance. It always feels to me like they spend 95% of their time making the music and then go.... Oh yeah, we need lyrics.....

Favourite songs: Le Freak, Happy Man

Least favourite songs: At Last I Am Free, (Funny) Bone (I Don't need a song which is almost 4 minutes of people laughing. No one does).

3/5

Holy balls this album is fantastic. It had nothing I'd heard before on it, but it was all really solid.

Favourite songs: Flight of the Rat, Into the Fire, Speed King, Child in Time, Into the Fire, Living Wreck

Least favourite songs: none

I had one of Ali's albums he did with Ry Cooder before. He is called the pioneer of "desert blues", which is African blues. Dude is from Mali. This album is great! Ali's guitar work on this album is insane!

Favourite songs: Soya, N'Jarou, Soko Yhinka, Penda Yoro, Yer Bounda Fara, Machengoidi

Least favourite songs: Erdi

This is gloriously 80's synth pop cheese. Kinda like Soft Cell, Huey Lewis & the News, or The Human League. This album has everything from rock to synthpop to jazz.

Favourite songs: Relax, War, Born to Run, Welcome to the Pleasuredome, The Only Star in Heaven, Wish the Lads Were Here

Least favourite songs: The World is My Oyster (Including Well/Snatch of Fury), Tag (Fuck skits)

Was unfamiliar with today's band so I looked at their bio. Icelandic alt rock. I thought, ok, sounds interesting. Lead singer... Bjork...... Fuck. So this was apparently her band prior to getting huge and going out on her own. This is like Icelandic B-52s but shittier.

Favourite songs: Deus

Least favourite songs: Birthday, Delicious Demon, Mama, Take Some Petrol Darling.... And others.... Most of this record is garbage. I really don't like much post punk/Avant pop. It's just too quirky and weird for me.

2/5

Fucking solid album!! Teach Your Children, Helpless, Woodstock.... So many good songs! I love what Neil Young brought to Crosby, Stills & Nash. That distinct guitar work and that voice.... Phenomenal!

Favourite songs: Woodstock, Helpless, Teach Your Children, Almost Cut My Hair, Everybody I Love You

Least favourite songs: Deja Vu

WarU2

Rated 6/10

Oh ffs..... Not another U2 album. Just the name of the album is pretentious. I just know Bono will be an insufferable cock tractor on this one. I just hate U2 and I don't know why. The music is... Fine.... They're just such douche canoes.

Favourite songs: New Year's Day, Sunday Bloody Sunday, The Refugee, Red Light, Surrender

Least favourite songs: Drowning Man

3/5

These guys sound like a mix between Muse, Coheed & Cambria, and Tool. Pretty solid modern prog rock. Interestingly, Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers played bass on this record. Another interesting note.... These guy formed from the ashes of hardcore band At The Drive-In.

Favourite songs: Roulette Dares (The Haunt Of), Inertiatic Esp, Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt, This Apparatus Must Be Unearthed, Televators

Least favourite songs: Cicatriz Esp

80's cheese. It's like pop but smoother, with the addition of brass instruments. Definately different from the first album of theirs I reviewed (not necessarily bad, just odd).

Favourite songs: Apron Strings, Goodbye Sunday, Oxford Street, I Don't Want to Talk About It

Least favourite songs: The Night I Heard Caruso Sing
