RocksAerosmith

Rated 8/10

Not Aerosmith's strongest album (that honor lies with Toys in the Attic), but a solid showing all the same. Steven Tyler had a hell of a powerful voice, and Joe Perry's guitar playing is awesome! There is a good mix of blues, funk, and rock in this music. Last Child is a phenomenal song!

Favourite songs: Last Child, Back in the Saddle, Rats in the Cellar, Lick and a Promise, Get the Lead Out

Least favourite songs: Nobody's Fault

80's synth pop. One awesome song, and a bunch of sub par 80's cheese. One great song does not an album make. Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) should be on a list of 1,001 songs to listen to, but not 1,001 albums. The rest of the album pales in comparison to that smash hit, and the band didn't really do much else of note.

Favourite songs: Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), Wrap it Up

Least favourite songs: Love Is a Stranger, I've Got an Angel, Jennifer, Somebody Told Me, This City Never Sleeps

This album is indie /brit pop. This is the second Suede album I've had (the first being their self titled debut). I don't care for this one as much as the first one I had. This one is pretty weird. A lot of the songs on this record have like 20-30 seconds of silence after the song ends before the next song begins. Seems like something that should have been fixed prior to release.

Favourite songs: We Are The Pigs, This Hollywood Life, The Power, New Generation

Least favourite songs: Daddy's Speeding, The 2 of Us, Black or Blue, Still Life

These guys didn't deserve one album in this generator, let alone 2. This is more of that unenthusiastic shoegaze spacey indie shit. Sung as if bored, and full of spacey boops and beeps. Complete garbage. At least it's better than their first one I reviewed (Lazer Guided Melodies), but not by much. Of interest: Cop Shoot Cop... samples John Prine's song Sam Stone. Why do they have to do John Prine so dirty? That song also has a 6 minute break in the middle where the musicians just wail on their instruments and distort them all to hell senselessly. This album is trash.

Favourite songs: Electricity

Least favourite songs: The Individual, No God Only Religion, Cop Shoot Cop... along with most of the rest of this album. It is all garbage. Ffs, is there any need for their last song on the album (Cop Shoot Cop...) to be 17 minutes long? My God...

Fuck, not another Elvis Costello record.... This album is so boring... It's like salted cardboard.... Bland as fuck! It sounds like Costello collaborated with Randy Newman on this record or something...

I love the quote (to paraphrase): "this album's singles barely charted" .... So why the fuck is it on this list. If it sold poorly, it's probably for a reason... There is too much of this horse shit on this generator.

Favourite songs: Pidgin English, Human Hands, Man Out of Time, ... And In Every Home, Kid About It

Least favourite songs: Shabby Doll, Town Cryer, The Long Honeymoon

This is like reggae vocals but paired up with thrash metal or hardcore punk music. It's weird. Strong Rasta vocals, but like the opposite of Rasta music. Instead of light and peaceful, it's hard and fast. It's like if Anthrax hired a Rasta to sing for them. The fast, thrashy songs are good, but the slow meandering ones, which this album is Ike 80% comprised of, don't really hit for me. They lack direction. They just kind of happen, and don't really accomplish anything. Disappointing.

Favourite songs: House of Suffering

Least favourite songs: Secret 77

Some obscure post punk band from the UK. Apparently they've put out 31 studio albums over the course of their 38 yr history. But it's just not that great. The singing..... To quote wikipedia: "voiced through a "one-note delivery somewhere between amphetamine-spiked rant and alcohol-addled yarn."". It's a shame too, because the music, though repetitive, is not bad, but the weird ass vocals drag it down.

Favourite songs: Service, It's a Curse, Ladybird, The League of Bald Headed Men, Lost in Music

Least favourite songs: Light/Fireworks

A blues album. The first song on the album was like blues that was dripping with 80's cheese, but then it thankfully switched to good dirty, sludgy blues. Lolol, Bad trip man. This album is awesome! Fuck I love blues rock!

Favourite songs: Think Twice Before You Go, I'm In The Mood, Baby Lee, Cuttin' Out, Sally Mae, That's Alright

Least favourite songs: The Healer

Someone described Wilco as American Radiohead, and that is a very accurate representation of what's going on on this record. Super weird indie rock. Nothing of note happens on this album. It's all horribly beige. It took me 2 days to finish the album simply because it is so fucking boring. I hate Radiohead, and have similar feelings towards Wilco.

Favourite songs: "Jesus, Etc.", Kamera, I'm The Man Who Loves You

Least favourite songs: I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, Radio Cure, Poor Places, Reservations

These guys are like a punk jam band. The songs are all still like 1:30 long, but the singer only sings for maybe 30 seconds of each song, so I guess that's punk's version of a jam band. It's a double album. 43 songs. Still gets done in 1hr 14 mins. They just seem to amble about and not really accomplish much. I mean it's not bad, but it just has no direction. Interestingly, they apparently did the Jack Ass theme song, Corona.

Favourite songs: Corona, My Heart and the Real World, Viet Nam, The Roar of the Masses Could Be Farts, #1 Hit Song

Least favourite songs: "Take 5, D.", You Need the Glory, Nature Without Man, No Exchange, Jesus and Tequila

Typical 90s hip hop. It's got excellent storytelling. If I'm not mistaken, Ice T samples Black Sabbath's - Black Sabbath in the song Midnight.

Favourite songs: Lifestyles of the Rich and Infamous, Fly By, O.G. Original Gangster, Mic Contract, Midnight, Bitches 2, Straight Up Nigga, Ziplock

Least favourite songs: First Impression, Evil E - What About Sex?, Ya Shoulda Killed Me Last Year (fuck skits), M.V.P.s, Street Killer

Much more solid of an album than I remember. I remember my sister had this album and played the shit out of it in the mid 90's. I hated it at that time, but it's actually really good. Now that I haven't heard any of these songs for 15-20 years, I can actually enjoy them.

So many of her hits came from this one album. Ironic, You Oughta Know, You Learn, Head Over Feet, Hand In My Pocket...

Favourite songs: Ironic, You Oughta Know, Head Over Feet, You Learn, Hand in My Pocket, Right Through You

Least favourite songs: Perfect

I can't hear Blitzkrieg Bop without thinking of the movie Accepted. I can still picture Justin Long singing that song on stage at a college party. I love that movie!

Least favourite songs: if forced to pick: I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend

It's like new wave orchestral pop. It's actually not bad. Similar to Depeche Mode or Roxy Music.

Favourite songs: I Don't Believe In You, Living in Another World, Life's What You Make It, Give It Up

Least favourite songs: April 5th, Chameleon Day

Huge shot of nostalgia with this one! The start of the pop punk craze of the 90's. Come Out and Play, Self Esteem, Bad Habit, Gotta Get Away.... Fuckin awesome album. Reminds me of playing Tony Hawk on PS2 as a kid. This album fits into that skater punk genre that that game introduced me to. Dexter Holland's voice is so distinct.

Favourite songs: Self Esteem, Come Out And Play, Killboy Powerhead, Gotta Get Away, It'll Be a Long Time, Bad Habit, Genocide, Nitro (Youth Energy)

Rated 4/10

Its a weird one today. A fusion of jazz, funk, psychadelic rock, afrobeat, and other world music. Holger is apparently one of the founding members of the krautrock band Can. This album doesn't really have any direction. It just kind of ambles about and doesn't really achieve anything. The ideas he had were solid, but he just didn't stick the landing.
