This dude is like Jack Johnston crossed with Passenger. That super depressing acoustic singer songwriter folk. Super pretty, but so depressing.

This album reminds me a bit of Bo Burnham in that it's comedic pop rock from a dude that made it big through viral videos on the internet. Lemon Demon were the band responsible for that viral video "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" in 2005. The whole album is like that. Kinda catchy pop music that doesn't take itself too seriously. Full of NES sounds and electronica, but not so much as to be annoying. It's not bad.

I'm not afraid to say I don't understand this.... But I'm glad you like it. It has its moments, but is way too out there and ambling for me. I don't deny that they are stellar artists, it's just not for me.
Favourite songs: The Dead Flag Blues (the poem in this song is stellar. The Machine is, indeed, hemorrhaging)

I've loved Bo since he got his start on YouTube. Dude is a wordsmith, and is hilarious. Never thought one of his albums would be on this list, but I'm glad it's here. Thanks OP

My God this man is a fucking stellar bassist! This album slaps (literally lol). What I love is the fact that on this album, they took the bass.... Usually an instrument that gets buried.... And made it front and center of this album, and really showed what the instrument can do. So cool!

Since OP seems to feel his opinion is the only one that matters, I have this to say.
Instead of publishing a biography, I can sum up my feelings on this album in one word......NO.
I will offer one piece of advice. Stick to your music reviews. I feel your career is in the music industry somewhere and do actually enjoy reading your album reviews. Maybe leave the deep dives into OP's psyche to an actual psychiatrist. A public forum is not the place for you to spew your assumptions about where people's recommendations are coming from. Most of the time nostalgia plays a huge factor in our recommendations. It doesn't always come down to how talented the musician is or isn't. Maybe the albums we throw into the mix came into our lives at the right time and just kinda stuck; something I feel you miss the mark on. Here's a free piece of advice: Don't assume things: All assumptions do is make an ass out of you and me. Get it.... Ass... U.... Me..... Assume....lol
I recommended the wrong Tragically Hip album according to you so you felt it necessary to rake my nostalgic tale of sitting around a campfire through the coals to prove to yourself that you were right and I was wrong. I fully understand that The Tragically Hip isn't for everyone, and if you don't like them, that is your opinion, and you're entitled to it. You seem to take offense to my language at times and the fact that I hate what I hate and love what I love. It makes no sense to you because, you are right, I am not in the music industry, but that doesn't make me ignorant to what some of these artists are doing. I've been playing musical instruments for 30 years. Doesn't make me an expert, but I'm also not totally ignorant as you allude to. I, similar to a lot of people, started this journey to expose myself to new music which is outside my comfort zone. It has been successful in making me appreciate genres such as jazz, world music, pop, and trip hop. It has also showed me genres that I really hate such as shoegaze, britpop, and noise rock. I may hate them because I don't understand them, but here's the rub: I don't WANT to understand them. Nothing about them is sonically appealing to me. That's ok, but the fact that I fucking despise Radiohead has you trying to figure out what's happening between my eyes, and the easiest answer in your mind is ignorance.
As you pointed out, my flaw is that I wear my heart on my sleeve; a trait that I am quite aware of. I love things absolutely, and hate things with all of my being. Perhaps you read that hatred as ignorance, and perhaps I voiced my hatred with too much gusto. That's on me. But that doesn't give you the right to demean everything I hold dear to try and drag me through the dirt to make yourself feel better.
I'll tell you this: you can take your Radiohead, and Bjork, and every other pretentious artist that you seem to love, and go sit in your car (your words... ) and listen to it. You may have a car full of like minded individuals, but I'll have just as many out sitting around the campfire with me. Do me a favor. Don't just sit in the car. Put it in gear and drive away. Don't try to insult me into suckling off of the teat of Thom Yorke. I'm good here thanks.

This is actually pretty solid!! Usually Beyoncé overstays her welcome with her albums, but this is a respectable 45 min runtime. The theme of the album is heartbreak, woman empowerment, Infidelity, and marital stresses. This album is a direct "fuck you" to Jay-Z. She wrote the album directly after discovering Jay-Z was cheating on her. Full of real anger and emotion.

These guys are really good instrumentalists, and also the inclusion of a trumpet in emo music isn't something I would have considered, but it works. Pretty solid album, especially given these guys were a college band that initially had a really short run. I'm glad to have heard this, even though emo isn't really in my regular rotation for listening, I still appreciate their talent.
