CutThe Slits

Rated 4/10

Weird stuff on the first two tracks. the vocal lines are not directly anchored to the reggae beat. So there is this weird like floating feeling. Dude this was so weird. The cover of I Heard It Through The Grapevine was a real treat but its not an original release.

War Pigs!!!!!!and then into Paranoid has to be one of the best 1 2 punches on the entirety of the list. Planet Caravan is super weird, then Iron Man comes in. The back half of this album has enough heavy experimentation to almost fit in with a jam style band.

Honestly, this album is wasted on me this morning. I'm in a terrible, distracted, stressed, and lovesick mood so its hard to let one of Stevie's masterpieces sink in. Creepin' is sort of a song that I know I like I just don't feel like listening to it right now. They Won't Go When I Go is more my speed today. Bird Of Beauty immediately has my attention. Maybe by the end of Please Don't Go, I'm feeling better. which is a good sign.

Ok Morrissey we get it America sucks and you hate it, sure. Irish Blood, English Heart is not my thing. I Have Forgiven Jesus is pretty good.

Damaged Goods is a killer track. Bass sound on the album is great all the way through. Tough rate though. If its revisitable. I think there are other British punk bands I would like to listen to more.

Cult Of Personality is a great track. Desperate People is great. Which Way To America is killer. I loved this.

Holy Moses the 70's was not afraid to throw down the whole ass n word. Papa Was A Rollin' Stone is a cool song. I Ain't Got Nothin' is another fabulous song. The last three tracks sort of fall off for me but another great album in this run I'm on

Hey Little Rich Girl is a solid 2 Tone sound. What a landmark ska album. Sock It To 'Em JB is another stellar track. Holiday Fortnite is great!

Oh man here we go. Ktulu feels like two songs passing each other and not actually blending. The ornamentation on Master Of Puppets just does not work. and the crowd. Lord above. Is there not going to be a sick shredding solo on a violin or are they only going to be a texture piece. Hero Of The Day is overwrought. Oh man doing this as just one big push is tough. James actually sounds really good/ true to intent. Wherever I May Roam is the first song to really feel like the orchestra is actually adding something. Sad But True is such butt rock and the orchestra doesn't help. One is just not helped by this treatment. Is there a concept in here? yes. But its not something you can just half ass bolt on the orchestration like this.

This is cool. Put Him Out really hit it out of the park for me. The guitar licks are just so tasty. It Takes More has some GRIT! The back half I wasn't as keen on.

really scratchy aggressive synths plus shouted lyrics. Big Money got me going. Dude this thing kills. The guitars sound like they are industrial machinery!

Strong one two with Allergies and Hearts And Bones. Rene and Georgette is such a tender song and its followed by the absolute bullshit garbage song Cars Are Cars. The Late Great Johnny Ace is such a weird tune sonically.
