Twee Latin nonsense. Lowest point is ‘A Banda’ in which we just list types of parades.

Not for me. Genius of love at least has a good hook and it’s obvious why others have lifted it for other songs but that aside its just too kooky and not in an enjoyable way
Rated 2/10
Sinatra’s voice is obviously pleasant enough, but god is this dull. Nothing stands out it all just exists as background music. I spent most of the album wishing for it to end
Rated 4/10
I want to like this album, but i just dont. I hate the majority of 80s synth music and this does nothing to change that. However ‘Dont you want me is a truly great song and means that this cant get a one, which i fear it would otherwise be getting.
Rated 10/10
Yes Stairway is the best song here, but it would be on most albums. Take it away and you’ve still got a 5* album. Classic
Rated 2/10
This is just dull. ‘Ruby Baby’ does even get close to being the best sing to repeat the name Ruby.
This album is frankly tedious and dated.
Rated 6/10
It’s an enjoyable listen, but never really scales the heights to raise above the crowd
Rated 4/10
I never quite understood the hype that was generated ahead of this album. The singles are great, but beyond that is all fairly mediocre and Richard Ashcroft’s vocals are hardly great. I’s a shame Lucky man is buried down at track 9, as i’d long lost interest before then. It would be far better replacing the rolling people and then you could just switch it off.
Four songs do not a great album make
Rated 6/10
Destiny’s Child are very much a singles band and this reinforces that. You cant argue with the vocals, but some of the content is definitely dated
I’ve always felt i should listen to more albums by the Kinks, as i really like a lot of their singles. Unfortunately it’s the singles that stand out here and the rest of the album whilst pleasant enough doesn’t send me rushing to listen to more.

There isn’t a ba bad song on this album and yet it feels David Gray gets a hard time. This epitomising the type of artist that has an unexpected hit album and gradually returns to their natural level of sales (solid but not spectacular). For some reason this is often seen as a failure, which it’s not.
Babylon is a great track and is matched by the other tracks. His version of ‘Say hello, wave goodbye’ surpasses the original for me.
Rated 2/10
‘Brown Paper Bag’ is a good song with an infectious hook, but man it’s long. Over lon songs are clearly this album’s thing and only serve to make it migraine inciting.
Even the more chill moments like ‘heroes’ just grated on me, but in general (despite owning a different Roni Size album) this isnt my sort of music.
I quite liked Merle’s voice, but after the first two tracks it just started to bore me.
Rated 4/10
I think Sunday Bloody Sunday is my favourite U2 track, I just love the drumming that dominates it. This is present elsewhere on the album without the same effect. New Years Day is another great track, but there is little great beyond those two.
Worse than that ‘The Refugee’ is just shocking
Rated 4/10
The whole thing had a slightly diy feel to it, complete with shouty vocals. I didn’t mind it, but there wasn’t really any stand out to it all. I prefer the more recent output and the album of covers.
Overall i’d give it a 2.5/5 but the marking system here forces me to mark it down
Albums like this make you question the whole concept. Nothing about this was a must listen and the vocals are shocking.
Section 43’s 7 minutes of (mainly) organ doodling despite the absence of the aforementioned weak vocals still possibly the worst offender.
I did however master the full lyrics for ‘The Masked Marauder’ “La la la la la la la”
Rated 8/10
White Denim release consistently good albums, but always seem to be bubbling under and have never really broken through (in the UK at least).
This is therefore an enjoyable affair that manages to have a retro feel without ever really feeling old.
Rated 4/10
I dont like the Rolling Stones, which i think is mainly down to Mick’s vocals and always feel that there is little value beyond the singles/hits. This album does nothing to shift that view. ‘Gimme Shelter’ is a great opener ‘you cant always get what you want’ a great closer m, vut there is little in between
Rated 10/10
I love this album, Zeppelin’s best in my opinion.
Custard Pie just has such an infectious blues layered groove to it, it makes the perfect start. Bonham’s drumming is insane and ‘the Rover’ shows off the component aspects of the whole band perfectly.
Plant’s vocals are more restrained for ‘Houses of the Holy’, even when we reach the chorus allowing the groove to carry the tune along. ‘Trampled Under foot’ songs totally different with even Plant’s vocal seemingly deeper and have an almost Motown feel to it.
And then there is ‘Kashmir’ which just eclipses everything. Such a majestic beautiful song.
The second side (or in effect third) opens with another more laid back affair and thats before the delicate beauty of Bron-Yr-Aur and ‘Ten Years Gone’
‘night Flight’ brings the tempo up a bit more and delivers more of that unmistakable Bonham drumming.
This album highlights just how good every part of Zeppelin were technically. Obviously it is easy to marvel at Page’s guitarmanship, but you cant ignore that rhythm section of JPJ and Bonham.
Rated 4/10
The music is fine, but the whole thing just goes on too long. If the tracks had been shorter I’d probably have scored this higher but as it was it started to grate on me long before the end
