Is this the most front loaded album of all time?
Rated 2/10
Tracks 1/2: “we don’t need no men”
Track 3: “yeah, men, look at my booty”
Track 4: “ew, girl, put some fucking clothes on and stop being such a fucking slag”
Tracks 5-18(!): idk, something about apple pies??
Rated 6/10
A fun bop. Some classics, but not enough to really draw me back to it.
Rated 4/10
I can freely admit that Beyonce has a great voice. What I dont like (abhor is a better word) is the herky jerky delivery and I REALLY dont need to hear that you can hit every damn note in the spectrum every third word.
These are the theme songs for women with shitty dudes that cheat on them, have no job and no prospects. Hiliariously ol B sings these songs about not tollerating a man that cheats and is disprespectful and yet.... there she is with a man that has cheated on her which is the ultimate for of disrespect.
Suffice it to say I hate this. Doesnt mean I dont see the appeal for some people and the ladies have great voices even if I cant stand the delivery.

The hits and the talent are simply undeniable, however I feel like the album doesn't quite hold up as a complete package. It's weirdly inconsistent! A big chunk of the material is just a bit forgettable unfortunately... but then you also have a song like 'Independent Women Pt. II' showcasing some seriously FILTHY production unlike anything I've heard before (or since). I would've loved more of that!!
Standouts: Independent Women, Pt. 1 • Survivor • Bootylicious • Independent Women Pt. II • Happy Face
Rated 10/10
The first three tracks are flawless. And while it gets more choppy after that, I love the themes and it's so impressive that Beyonce created so much of that art at her age. 4.5/5 -> 5/5

Really disappointed
Rated 6/10
Pretty disappointed with this album. Parts of it are iconic, era defining tracks from 2000s pop. And many of them are forgettable, bland songs just there to fill space

Jeg er ikke i målgruppen for denne
Rated 4/10
This album is really dated, with its tinny production and never ending vocal runs. I don't really hate it, but it gets boring pretty fast, and definitely doesn't need to be an hour long. The first 3 songs are great, although I always thought Survivor sounded like it had too many lyrics in each bar.
Nasty Girl is a bit of a head scratcher. I thought it was such a stark contradiction to the previous song that it had to be a joke, or some sort of satire defending themselves from their critics. But it seems to be completely serious. If you look up that song, the single cover is a shot of the 3 ladies with Beyoncé in the middle wearing a yellow bikini - they don't appear to be at the beach! I'm not against that at all, but seems a bit hypocritical.
Apple Pie, Happy Face, and Emotion are decent. But apart from those, I can take or leave this.

Rated 6/10
Three tracks off the bat that ch aged pip music for 20 years and made Beyoncé a MEGA star for the next 20+ years….followed by 15 forgettable tracks.
I almost could have gone 4 but oof “Emotion” is rough!
Rated 8/10
Classic.
Rated 6/10
Perfectly fine, but it doesn't really speak to me.
Rated 6/10
Destiny’s Child are very much a singles band and this reinforces that. You cant argue with the vocals, but some of the content is definitely dated
Rated 6/10
Sone absolute classic 2000s pop songs on this album, and I do think it has every right to be on the 1001 album list. Unfortunately it just isn't really my thing, so while I'd never turn it off if it appeared on shuffle, it's getting a very middling score from me.

Ultimate bs girlboss energy. The singing does go hard tho.

Jesus might love me, but does he love 'Nasty Girl'?
Rated 1/10
At no point do I feel like this is an album I must hear before I die. The nicest thing that I can say about this album is that they sample Edge of Seventeen, a song that I'd rather be listening to than this shit.
Also, how is this album so fucking long? All of the hit singles are at the very beginning. I'd be inclined to give this a second star had they cut the track count in half.
