i was actually enjoying the world music aspects of this album until learning about how the actual creators of the music went uncredited and didnt receive any royalties. the other components of this album were straight up bad and annoying. not to mention, the last song, duck for the oyster might be the worst thing ive heard through 581 albums on this project.

this easily couldve been 4 or 5 stars if they tightened it up. as it stands its a bit of a mess that drags on for way longer than it should. one of the songs is literally just the opener with added vocals and a few other layers.

i understand the historical implications of this album but do not think its an album you need to hear before you die. it mostly consists of one phrase repeated ad nauseam for 9-16 minutes. it would be ok background music but even for that its way too sparse for my taste. id likely be more forgiving if i got this on a day when i was working but instead i got this on a day when i was spending 5 hours driving, leaving this as my entertainment

the instrumentals feel like they were trying to check the box on southern rock tropes and the vocalist phoned in the entire performance. pretty mediocre but way better than the last album i had from them(not that it took much).

one or two songs i really enjoyed the rest were fine. consistently good production but starts feeling a little too samey towards the end

this one is a struggle to rate. on one hand you have great songs performed by a generational talent. on the other hand you have a collection of songs not really meant to be listened to consecutively as an album. the format makes what should be an easy 5 an incredibly tough listen. do yourself a favor an break this up into smaller chunks and it will be a much more enjoyable listen.
