It's definitely cool jazz but there are some interesting piano flourishes and modal bits throughout, can see why it's part of the canon for cool jazz and I did really enjoy it :)

I really loved this - taking a more electronic turn seemed to have revitalised them a bit and this is way less somber than the (also very good) first and second albums

Really thrown off by this, I like a lot of the tracks (obviously there are some huge iconic hits here) but the whole record has a slightly uncanny feeling to it that I struggled with. I'm going 3 because I feel I'm overthinking it and I can't give a 2 to a record with so many great tracks, but with that as a disclaimer

Pretty perfect for what it does right? Vocal jazz, adult contemporary whatever - you can definitely do it wrong and Norah Jones does it right

Woah this is way better than Led Zeppelin IV, has a much rawer and even funkier vibe to it which I appreciate and the long songs are great. Very impressed

Great melodies but it is a bit cheesy in a way I'm struggling to overcome (edit - I overcame it)

Gorgeous record - 60s folk scene by the way of vocal jazz singing. This is my fave Joni Mitchell record because it has some unbelievable tracks and it's very nostalgic for me, but it's not quite a 5.

This is fun enough but parts of it felt a bit of a novelty/parody of reggae in the subject matter which put me off a little bit. Not a terrible listen but just not that compelling

This is a really solid rap record, good variety of beats and styles which I think helps because Ghostface Killah has a very specific delivery. Love the Dilla beats :)

This was such a pleasant surprise, great record and loved the sound even if it is very smooth / adult contemporary it felt like it really worked well for her

I really like the first yeah yeah yeahs album but this doesn't do much for me. I think the stylistic change would be really good in theory but it's just missing something in practice, I like the demos a lot though

Great record, has a layer of the uncanny all throughout but it's not until Frankie Teardrop that you realise how that layer is also menacing and nihilistic, almost reframed the rest of the album
Would consider it similar to a psychological horror movie that is just unsettling with one big moment of release. Appreciate it doesn't make easy listening but it's very well executed imo
This also sounds like basically nothing else and if it came out today it would still sound strange, which isn't a measure of quality but still cool

I thought this was a more subdued Dylan, although there were a few great tracks on first listen this might need some time to sit with me given the lyrical depth
