Not usually my thing, but everything just works so well together here, there's a density and harmony to the music which is really beautiful.
Hoping the profits from this album mean she can afford a bathtub now as well.

I remember this being a thing that seemed slightly scary, but like most scary music things it's actually really immature and stupid. I liked the title track, but it just descends into adolescent mysogyny. Totally paved the way for Eminem though, not sure if that's a good thing.

I find it actually kind of annoying that there was no Runaways/Joan Jett on the original list because I'm relying on it to fill in the blanks in my musical history knowledge. This feels like a great way to get to know the band, though; along with Heart, they helped define female-fronted 70s rock in a way that feels like it still has resonance now; they bring a sense of fun to this cocksure and occasionally very silly genre.

Yah, this was great yah! Prog stoner rock, reminded me of Pink Floyd quite a lot, and Pharaoh Overlord at other times. Yah! Gotta stop saying yah.

Wasn't really enjoying this to start with, but it became much more stirring and orchestral as it went on and I really got into it. Fair play to her as well, can't have been easy.

My son's a big fan of Green Day, but I've never been hugely convinced. This is just right though: so alive and it moves so fast, I feel like they were just on the cusp of becoming mega, which is what ruined them a bit. "Good Riddance" is such a curveball from them as well, I remembering hearing it when it was a B-side to "Brain Stew" and thinking it was their best song, even if it has been completely misinterpreted, and this is the most hipster sentence I've ever written.

This is so laid-back it's almost comatose, but delightfully so. A delightful coma. Just what you need sometimes.

I had "Showbiz" and didn't like it that much: I always thought Muse, like Coldplay, were riding on the coattails of Radiohead while being shittier songwriters. But "Origin of Symmetry" is kind of bonkers, it's like Queen on amphetamines, unhinged and remorseless, like Muse just stopped giving a shit. I still don't think they're that good, but they get points for just doing whatever the hell this is.

I liked "The Distance" at the time, but this album outstayed its welcome after when it was over. It's telling that the best songs here are covers, even if they're struck through with that annoying irony.
