Bjork, Goldfrapp, I kind of lost track of whatever came next in this sequence. But I think it's this! It softens Goldfrapp's electroclash hardness into something more folky and ethereal, but maintains electronic undercurrents. Loved it.

A pleasant surprise! I had "Patio Song" as a single but never heard the whole album. I really like them, they're a lot like their Welsh brethren Super Furry Animals, but they lean more into esoteric folk without ever becoming annoying.

I've realised that I really don't like Queen at all, but that every album I listen to includes one track that I do really, really like. Unfortunately, I can't remember which track it was, and I'm not inclined to find out.

Good recommendation. I don't think I've ever heard such a coherent album outside of the 1970s; it never strays from the path but it also never becomes boring.

Better than "Common People," I think, even if it is a dry run for that album. I think the music is better here, and there are fewer weak tracks. I never really realised how much they sound like New Order. Jarvis is at once sleazier and more fresh-faced, it's less bleak than "Common People," awkward and sexy in equal measure. "Babies" has always been my favourite Pulp song.

Yikes. This was such a formative album for me, the first time I'd heard something genuinely weird and proggy, but operating within the boundaries of Britpop.

But it's not quite like I remember it. It's soaring and beautiful in places, but so utterly childish and bratty in others. It doesn't help that Paul Draper has been acting like such a dick in recent years.

I'd like to think "Six" is better, but I'm worried it'll have the same effect.
