Surprisingly good. There are shades of punk, hardcore, and metal. I think they’re generally considered a punk band, and I would say that they’re pretty amazing musically, for a punk band. I don’t think it’s going on my current rotation, but I enjoyed my time with it.

25Adele

Rated 8/10

I’m blown away. I’m not a big pop music fan so I really haven’t heard any of her stuff. But I just told my wife, in a timeline that makes sense, Adele is the biggest woman pop star in the world, not the warm glass of milk that is Taylor Swift. Except…she only seems to make sad songs. So it starts to get a little same-y if you’re not actual depressed. Very impressed by this album. I probably won’t listen to the whole album again on my own, but I could see bringing up a couple of the songs when I’m in the mood.

This is my second Tim Buckley album, and based on my first experience with him, it's fair to say my expectations were LOW. So I have to report that I am pleasantly surprised by this album. It's kinda catchy, even if there are some really weird, out-of-place vocalizations throughout the album. But it's only, like, 39 minutes long, so hat tip to Mr. Buckley for that.

Overall, especially with how sick I am of 60s/70s rock albums, this was a fairly enjoyable listen.

I didn't love it. It wasn't terrible by any means, probably a 2.5 if I could. I'm going to give it three stars because I respect that it's very, very influential, but I think it was a bit boring.

When this popped up I knew I was going to hate it. I'm 670 albums into this project, so I'm going to finish it, but I'll tell you - I'm not excited for it anymore. There's just waaaayyyyy too much 60s and 70s bullshit, and many of these bands have five and six albums - Bowie, apparently, has nine! That wouldn't be so much of a problem except they've left out some very obvious albums from other eras/genres and it's frustrating.

I guess this is less of a review of the album and more a vent about the project. So here's the album review: it stinks. it sounds like the Beatles added a chick and some tambourines. It's such a template of 60s flower child hippie bullshit. It sounds like the Monkees. It sounds like every other hippie, flower child template album in this project, of which there are about 30.

Very good 90s downtempo/chill. I'd love to give this thing a 3.5. I think there are probably better albums from this era that showcase the sound and vibe a bit better, but overall this is a very good listen.

It starts off in this weird, free-jazz sort of style that I don't love, but it soon morphed -- while maintaining its jazz roots -- into something different. I don't think this is going to turn into any sort of regular rotation album, but it is intriguing. The mix of jazz, prog, blues, and even a little funk is quite interesting. There are too many albums in this project that are incredibly confusing as to why they were included, but the is not one of them. Although it may not be my favorite thing, it doesn't sound like other 60s rock, and I can hear the melding of sounds to create something new, and I can understand how it would have been groundbreaking and influential in its time.

I'm dead sick of 60s rock albums, but if you *have* to listen to one, you can definitely do worse that this.

RevolverThe Beatles

Rated 6/10

The Beatles are perhaps the most ruthlessly overhyped and overrated band in the history of recorded music but with this album I can almost, if I squint really hard, see "it." It's not a great album, but it's interesting - and with the Beatles, that's a positive change of pace.

I don't know what's more surprising: that this was apparently a number 1 record in multiple countries, or that someone thought that anyone who had thus far blissfully missed this abortion *needed* to hear it before they died.

I can practically smell the pink neon tube lights, hair gel, and suit jackets with massive shoulder pads oozing out of my headphones. This is bad.

I loved Korn in the 90s, and I still think that overall this is a very good album - it's just not the rock solid 5-star I thought it would be when I saw it pop up. I still think the bangers are bangers, but I never thought this was one of Korn's best albums, and I think that there are plenty of songs that sound dated, and the one with Fred Durst deserves a docked star all on its own.

Overall, I think it deserves 4 stars. It's a good album that maybe didn't stand the test of time, but was an important and critical piece of art from a time where this style of music was dominant in the zeitgeist.

This is a tough one. I like Tracey Thorn's voice. I like later Everything but the Girl albums. I loved her work with Massive Attack. This album, though, is boring and I don't like it. It's only tough because I like them and don't want to give them the 2 stars this album deserves. I like that it isn't standard 80s pop, but it is very poppy, and it's from the 80s, soooo...

It's 70s punk, so it's annoying, but it is more musical than you normally get with that genre. It has the decency of being only 34 minutes, which saves it a star because I was definitely starting to get annoyed with it. As it is, I'll give it 3 stars for not being Sex Pistols lite.

The VisitorsABBA

Rated 4/10

Did I like this? No I did not. But did I appreciate it? Also no. Ah, but did I respect it for what it is? Still no, but a little less effusively. It is not what I thought Abba sounds like, so I will give them respect for that. I didn't like it, but I also didn't hate it, but I did think it went on too long. Do I ever want to hear it again? Not particularly.
