Dub HousingPere Ubu

Rated 6/10

It's still a tough listen, but I liked this better than the other Pere Ubu album on the list.

It wasn't what I expected. And if it wasn't a double album it might've stayed at a 3. But it's too long for something I didn't really enjoy.

Started listening to this and made a comment to my wife that it's not quite as weird as I expected it to be. Then the second half came on and I was put in my place.

It's not a bad record, but it's not one I see myself putting on again anytime soon.

I'm torn. This is probably a 4.5 album for me, it's really good, I like it a lot. Zen Arcade should be on this list, though, and I'm not sure if it is or not. If it's not, that's an oversight. I'll round this one up just in case.

I was unfamiliar with this, but I don't think I should have been. Seems like something I would've listened to before. And it's pretty good, I could see this becoming more of a favorite with more time.

This was my favorite of the Stevie Wonder albums we've gotten. I wish it wasn't a double album, it wasn't good enough for almost 2 hours of music, but I enjoyed most of it.

I love the first Specials album. This one has moments of greatness but it's not as good overall. I actually like some of the off-the-wall directions it goes, but it's uneven. Still, I'll gladly listen to it again, but it's not quite the highs of the debut. It's probably a 4.5, but I'll round down just so that the first album gets the full 5.

No.

I don't like this style of music, I don't like songs interspersed with talking, and I didn't like this even one little bit.

I enjoyed this way more than I expected to. Just glad the vocals weren't cookie monster style as I can't stand that. And it's not good when you're laughing at the lyrics at times because they're so juvenile and trying to be edgy and dark.

You listen to this for the guitar and drums, and they're excellent here.

I liked the second half a little more than the first half, with the addition of more reggae and post-punk style. I found the first half repetitive and annoying. And most of the songs I liked the most were covers.

It's a great album. Typical Girls is my favorite track on here, but there's a lot of great stuff. I loved the reggae/dub sounds on this album. I wish the production was a *touch* better than it is, it's pretty bad, but hey, it's punk (or post-punk if you want.)

You can see how other bands I love, like Sleater-Kinney, were directly influenced by them.

Very worthy of being on this list.

Wow what a turd of an album. I hated the singers voice, hated the song structures and started wondering how many more songs were on this album somewhere around song #4.

Maybe it made more of an impact when it was first released but I’ll be happy if I never have to listen to it again!

Like the first PiL, I’m not exactly sure why I like it so much, but I really do. First time hearing this album, maybe with some more time it might even get to a 5 but it’s a strong 4 right now.

Not a genre I like, not an album in this genre that changes my mind. I was completely bored listening to this.

I tortured myself by listening to both the French and English versions of this album, and I honestly couldn't really tell a difference. Every song is exactly the same as the next and all of it is boring as shit.
