I was familiar with the band's name, but not their music. Yeah, it was kind of funny. Something like that would definitely be a lot of fun in a disco or a gay bar. But the botched cover of the Pink Floyd song changes the review of the album from ok to vomit. 2/5

Ever since I rediscovered Krautrock, the band CAN has been a household name for me. I’ve heard some amazing tracks by them. Their music was extraordinary back then, and it still is today. Rarely have I heard anything so innovative that still deserves to be listened to today. Yet there’s also a lot of music on this album that makes you wonder what strange substances were consumed before or during the recording. Some of it was just too harsh for me; perhaps this is also a clue to the drugs that were used. 4/5

Supergrass has always had a good reputation in my eyes, even though I wasn’t familiar with much of their music in detail. I hadn’t heard this album before, and even though I wasn’t really in the mood for this kind of music today, it still swept me away. That’s quite an achievement. 5/5

I listened to this album a long time ago. I thought the cover was cool. “Jump” was the track that was played everywhere. I never understood the hype surrounding it. Even though I’m a child of that era, I found the rest of the album uninteresting. That hasn’t changed. I won’t miss a thing if I never listen to this album again. 3/5

I hadn't heard of Solomon Burke before. I was really curious to see what I'd get. In the end, it sounded a lot like Elvis Presley to me and eventually started to get on my nerves. Although the album isn't bad, I probably won't listen to it all the way through again. 3/5

Yet another live album that only really works if you were there. And even then, I’m not so sure. If you’re at the concert and, stoned and fueled by the energy and cheers of the other fans, can really get into it, it’s a fantastic, unforgettable experience. Even then, the recording can be disappointing. I wasn’t at the concert—I couldn’t have been, anyway :-)—and it doesn’t really grab me. I’ll probably only listen to it again once I’ve heard a lot more of the Dead and want to fill in the gaps in my knowledge. So, probably not. 3/5

I hadn't heard the album before. The Wikipedia article about it really raised my expectations. Unfortunately, the album didn't live up to them. It was pretty good, but not so captivating that I absolutely have to listen to it again. 4/5

Rated 10/10

I didn’t discover this album until much later. But once I did, I thought it was fantastic and became a fan of the band. Together with the album Portishead, it served as the soundtrack to a novel/story by Norman Mailer that made a huge impression on me at the time. For quite a while, the music and the novel were very closely linked in my mind. A great album that I actually don’t need to listen to anymore, since I know it by heart. I listen to it anyway, because you can never get enough of good music. 5/5

A pretty nice album. I enjoyed most of it. Toward the end, it started to get on my nerves a bit. Besides, you heard this sound quite often toward the end of the ’90s. In that sense, the album doesn’t seem to have been particularly influential. 3/5

Not bad at all, if I were into black girlie pop. But I’m not. Ms. Dynamite sounds like she’s got something in her mouth. She mumbles. Maybe it’s cool. But I just don’t get it. 3/5

A strong album. In the end, it was a bit too much for me. I need to listen to it again. 4/5

Hip hop isn't music! But for me, this is pretty much the first album in the genre that I actually enjoyed. It was fun. Cool rhythm and sound. Maybe I'll actually listen to it again. 3/5

BlueJoni Mitchell

Rated 2/10

Joni Mitchell's fourth album—and for me, the same goes for this project. Just as awful as the others before it. I couldn't stand listening to even two tracks of it. I hope I never have to hear from her again. 1/5

Rated 2/10

Phew, that was boring. Yesterday it was innovative stuff from the '60s, today it's just meaningless drivel. The shifts in focus in this project are sometimes extreme. This, too, is a sign that an anthology or canon like this project is, in part, arbitrary and meaningless. 1/5

A very funny album. It was certainly important in its day. It’s also entertaining when viewed in its historical context. Does the humor still work today? Do I want to listen to it again? I don’t think so. Still, I’m glad I listened to the album. 4/5

Rated 6/10

Since Femi Kuti has already pleasantly surprised me twice with this project, I was really looking forward to this album. Unfortunately, I don’t like it as much as the others, but it is still good. I’ll keep Femi Kuti’s name in mind, even though this album didn’t quite live up to my expectations. 3/5

I have a vague memory of hearing about the band when I was younger. However, I don’t remember any of their music. That’s a shame. I really missed out back then. It’s a great album in the style of the time, and I enjoy listening to it again. 5/5

I keep confusing Jeff Beck with Beck. That’s the case here, too. The album was okay, but overall uninteresting. I probably won’t listen to it again. 3/5

A great album. It’s been a long time since I listened to it all the way through. It really makes me want to pull my Harley out of the garage and add the roar of the engine to this soundtrack. 5/5
