It's very basic classic rock, but fun nonetheless. It can get a bit too tryhard poorly aged edgelord at times but it's a fun and goofy album if you don't really take the shock in shock-rock seriously. The hits on here are good, I really like Elected. There's a bunch of nice deepcuts as well, pleasant surprise overall.

Fun Outlaw country album. Pleasantly surprised to see it here, since this isn't the most well known of albums. The songwriting is great here and Joe manages to combine traditional country well with modern instruments. The album is a bit on the short side sadly, wish it had just 1 or 2 tracks more.

I've listened to this album once or twice before, so I was surprised at just how many songs I recognised and enjoyed from my previous listens. Pixies really knew how to write some good hooks and pop songs. There are some lesser weird tracks on here, especially on the second side of the record, but they're fun pieces at best that don't district from the listening experience.

Fun listen, doesn't really feel like the Punk predecessor it is claimed to be. You can hear what was supposed to become Punk in the later years, but it feels more like a collection of Glam party anthems to me. I like how the band doesn't take itself too seriously, from the silly album cover, to the Cher & Sonny cover to the silly lyrics all throughout. It seems to achieve what it wants to do pretty well. That is where it also struggles a bit I think, there isn't that much to this album besides some fun songs. Can't blame an album for not trying to be something it's not though.

Before the likes of Luther Vandross and Prince, we had Bobby Womack and other trailblazers. I've listened to Bobby Womack in the past, but I can't really say that this is his most interesting release. It's a fine if not too notable listen, there are nice songs on here but nothing that's hugely consequential.

I was dreading listening to this, since I didn’t like Heartattack and Vine much …. but it’s actually really good? Waits voice still sounds like Captain Beefheart in Sesame Street, but I think his old bluesmans voice is fully utilised here. Instrumentation is sparse, soms clings and clangs and bits of conventional instruments here and there. It all sets a really nice tone with apt lyrics to back them up. I really liked this much more than I thought I would and will be revisiting.

The CarsThe Cars

Another brilliant 70’s album. Every song here is a banger. The songs are quite short, simple and well constructed. Just what I needed is one of the best songs of the 70’s. The Cars never topped their debut.

I can’t really find any fault with this album, this is Brian Eno at his best. Beautiful album with lots of nice, short yet spacious songs. There is room here for experimentation and solo’ing without it becoming pretentious. Robert Fripp’s guitar work is some of the best he’s ever done here as well.

ScumNapalm Death

Rated 6/10

I find this to be a bit of a grating listen. Not because I don't like grindcore or other types of hard music like this, but because the album hasn't aged all that well. The entire thing just feels kind like random slamming and screaming and drumming, there's no real theme and the recording sessions were even seperate. Still, it's nice to have music like this on the list and the influence it had and novelty of it bumps the enjoyment up a notch. There is nothing on here that is anything like these 33 minutes.

This still really feels like a Steely Dan album, despite being a solo work. I like this album, there are some fun hits here and no track is unpleasant to listen to. The album plays it a bit safe at times though, the divide between campy soft rock and Steely Dan is a bit thin.

I like this more than Nevermind, the album is more raw and rocking than their previous effort. The second side is especially nice, with less hits and more grunting raw screaming noise songs like Radio Friendly Unit Shifter. Shame we never got more out of Nirvana, but this is a somewhat fitting end for the band.

The genesis of Punk, Hardcore and almost every other relevant rock genre of the past 50 years. This album is a great collection of noisy somewhat pop-tinged songs. The songs feel a little unbaked and unrealised compared to their later 2 albums, but they are great to listen to nonetheless. I love listening to the stooges and even something like the awfully positioned We Will Fall doesn't deter me.

Pretty fun album, the goofyness is both a blessing and a curse. The beats flow really well here, but I wasn't really that impressed with the overall thing. It's fun and it sounds good but it probably needs a few more listens for me to appreciate it.

There's probably about 6 or 7 Paul Simon albums I'd think about including on this list before this one. It's a fun listen but not really an essential one. There are some fun upbeat songs I really enjoy here, such as Cars are Cars. However, there are a few too many acoustic songs on here that just feel unfinished to me. This entire album has that feel of not living up to its full potential, and the backstory behind this one explains how so.

I don't like Def Leppard and this didn't change that perception. Was really struggling with how much I dislike this album or whether I secretly like it a bit. But I don't. The entire thing sounds like the predecessor to everything awful that came with late 80's popular Rock, which it is. Some songs are ok, some are kind of kind in an ironic way and some, like Rock of Ages, are godawful atrocities of music. I will say that I really like the ''look what you've done to this rock & roll clown'' part in Photograph.

What an incredibly grim backstory for such a pleasant and uplifting album. This doesn't feel like it really pushes the envelope that much, but it's nice to listen to. I'd still prefer the Samba and Bossa Nova of the old legends, but this does nice at blending the genre with slightly more modern sounds. Really pleasant album to listen to that seems to go by way too fast.

A weird listen and a fun one for sure. I really like it when there's albums on here that don't sound like anything else on the list. The 4 songs on here were all different from one another. That said, the songs themselves are fun but not very memorable. There's something nice and delightfully weird about the album but I don't think it'll ever be a mainstay in my listening habits.

Fine enough, there were some interesting sounds on this for sure. The entire thing didn't really grab my attention though. 57 minutes is kind of long and there are no real hooks or other moments that stick with you. I can't recall ever hearing Tricky himself on this either. A big kind of nothing album to me.

Really not the type of music for me. I was switching between not really paying attention and not really enjoying what I was listening to for most of the duration of this record. Some songs were alright and some were really not to my liking, couldn't tell you which are which. A lot of late 2010's early 2020's music sounded like this and I really cannot stand it.

I like Public Enemy a lot, so I should like this one more than I do. The title track is one of the best sogns of the golden age of Hip Hop for sure, but besides that I don't find the album to have that many strong and memorable tracks. I like it still, but it hasn't aged as well or hits as hard as some other similar albums of the era.
