I hadn't heard this before, on first listen it's fairly generic early 90s American indie shoegaze grunge rock. It's listenable enough, but no earworms.

Haha, what the...??!

Listening on YouTube added to the batshit craziness, I couldn't tell when there was an advert or was it part of the album?! The comments section did make me laugh!

"I have never experienced such a strong desire to keep listening and stop listening at the same time."

"I listen to this album when I vacuum my lawn."

"This sounds like a Salvador Dali painting."

"This sounds like an entire band falling down the stairs, but they keep playing."

I ended up watching a few more YouTube videos dissecting this album and I found myself slowly warming towards it's mastery and absurdity.

I wasn't aware of this until the mid-90s, I took a punt on it when HMV had it on offer. This was before the BBC butchered Perfect Day for Children In Need. Anyway, fantastic album and it's been on regular rotation ever since.

Fast, thrashy and pointed, pretty much what you want from a punk album.

I guess if you were part of the late 70s punk scene this would be gold dust, but mid-2020s it just sounds chaotic.

Any one else notice the artwork of Alison Goldfrapp's doubled head looks like a vagina? I can't unsee it!

Feel it's gonna be a similar to my review of Seventh Tree... I enjoyed it, unfortunately quite forgettable.

I'd been reading Nick Hornby's 31 Songs recently, so Thunder Road is an interesting one, personally I still don't like it, (don't get me started about the harmonica), but have listened to it differently since reading that book.

Born To Run is fine, but overall I still feel indifferent about Bruce Springsteen. 2.5

Just another ex-1001 album!™

#TIL Kings of Leon are a family band (3 brothers and a cousin).

My knowledge of Kings of Leon is limited to a dislike of the overplayed "Sex On Fire" and nauseating "Use Somebody". So I surprised myself that I quite enjoyed this debut album.

Felt like an odd album, nothing seemed to happen, still I nodded along with it, then forgot about it.
