If I heard the odd track, I'd be thinking this is great, bossa nova summertime vibes!

But an album's worth is way too samey. 2.5

I completely forgot to add my review for this one, (I listened to it on the day our group had it). It is beautifully bonkers!

Immediately invoking memories of Top of the Pops, oh yeah, forgot this was a Zeppelin album for a minute.

Much like their other albums, this is really good, but the difficulty on this 1001 list is that you unfairly start comparing it to their other albums (*cough* IV).

I have a big soft spot for Ramble On though.

Queen IIQueen

Rated 4/10

I do quite like Queen, so I feel a bit bad that I didn't like this album, at all.

Felt like I was just waiting for Seven Seas Of Rhye to hit.

Having not listened to this album before, it's an interesting choice to open with American Pie, difficult to judge how the rest of the album would measure up. There are a few highs and lows, but it mostly plateaus.

Notably, I did find The Grave hauntingly beautiful.

The DoorsThe Doors

Rated 10/10

Trippy, psychedelic, hypnotic, all round good vibes, great riffs and loving the organs (and marxophone)! Can't imagine how much LSD Jim Morrison had taken whilst writing the lyrics.

KalaM.I.A.

Rated 4/10

Sadly, my soft spot for M.I.A. has passed. I found the majority of this album annoying, apart from Paper Planes, which was cool.

A refreshing change from the usual transatlantic albums we have on the 1001 list, even if this is a Paul Simon produced album.

Despite being a bit samey towards the end, it's a beautiful companion to Graceland.

Just another ex-1001 album!â„¢

Even before I pressed play, I knew it'd be an ex-1001 album. I found it quite mundane. Feels like the sort of music that's made for life insurance adverts.
