Gravelly voice? Check. Bucket load of synth? Check. One of the biggest albums of the 80s? Check.

Classic "roots" vibes. Crack open a can of Lilt and enjoy.

Meh - middle of the road country / rock cross-over. Why did this make the list?

Hey Siri, play me what the 60's sounded like.

The Doors : not my bag

"She's got electric boobs, but no-one knew" - is this peak Elton? Could well be - an insane number of hits here. Absoutely cannot give it 5 stars due to fucking Candle in the bastard Wind though.

Sounds silly, but it's almost not dystopian enough. The relentless pounding rhythm of Autobahn say. Its obviously hugely influential, but is missing................. *something*

Great production, super laid-back vibe.

Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazz
It's fine. Bowie not my bag though.

Had always just filed these guys under "punk" without really giving them a 2nd thought (despite loving the clear Gothic tendancies of Love Like Blood). But so much more than that right? None of the 3 chord bish bash bosh here. That industrial vibe is GRIT.TY.

One of the absolute greatest.
Billy Braggs vocals are absolutely infuriating to listen to.

Well, that was fun wasn't it. Super chill voice, nice laid back vibes.

Before I sputter out........
Novocaine for the Soul was absolutely everywhere of course, and if you wanted to introduce people to what was going on in the late 90s music scene, then this wouldn't be the worst place to start. Can't sustain the magic of the title track over the duration, but certainly warm & strong nostalgia vibes

So so album, and then he went mad.
Rated 6/10
Decent enough singer/songwriter fare whilst not particularly my bag.
Rated 8/10
It has "Kids" and "Time to Pretend". Not much more to be said really, a luscious slice of indie electro pop
Rated 8/10
Not much genre per se, but entire album shows the amazing craftsmanship they had
