I felt so English listening to this, I genuinely went to make beans on toast when the album ended. Madness have always been a singles band for me, and after listening, I'm happy for it to stay that way!

This is very much Rush at the HEIGHT of their power, fusing prog with radio friendly song forms. Unfortunately there's hints of where their future in the 80's was headed, with Vital Signs setting up the massive New Wave, Police wanna-be energy that plagued Rush's output later in the decade.

Krautrock, being one of my favourite genres, is always going to get a high rating from me, and the influence this album (and their two previous releases) has on modern music can never be understated. I am taking a star off for Bel Air's MULTIPLE false endings getting to me...

A bit of everything! A lot more versatility than I realised the Beastie Boys had. Doesn't really fall flat at any point, but feels like a collection of tracks rather than one cohesive album.

Jesus, the rhythm section is so deep in the pocket, they could scratch their own balls.

I spent half of my listening time hoping that the vocals were lower in the mix, so I could hear the (mediocre) instrumentals instead of someones bad Prince impression, and the other half hoping that everything could be lower in the mix because the loudness wars is STRONG in this album

Not even Sweet Dreams can save this album, the synths sound dated, the musical ideas repeat ad infinitum through songs that rwallycould have just been emails. Annie Lennox is still an icon though.
