Hmmm, defintly taking A LOT from the Village Green era of The Kinks here. It's fun and catchy, but also weird... very weird at times. They don't just sit on the approachable brit pop sound and capitalize off of it like they could, they innovate on it. We could probably argue all day about how it lands. Some of it leaves me scratching my head, but a lot of it is solid. Overall a pretty enjoyable release.

Not my favorite Neil Young album but it's up there. Do I love the heavier rock with Crazy Horse more, yeah, but this is iconic Neil right here doing what he does best.

Presently surprised as I expected an 80s pop album. The throw back r&b was abundant here, but often felt out of place, or disingenuous. Didn’t hate it, sure didn’t love it.

I remember checking this out early in life when I had first learned about and was craving anything associated with punk... This did NOT do it for me then. After another listen 35 years later, my feelings have not changed in the slightest.

Actually liked this more than I expected to. Used to clown on these guys for being cheese metal, but this is really just a heavy rock/blues style. Apparently that has really grown on me as I get older. Vocalist is especially great, and is one of those voices you know instantly when you hear it.

Not my usual listen for sure, but not bad. Never been a big Bollywood soundtrack guy, though I’ve met some die hard fans.

Some great songs on here, but it's really a mix of stuff that almost seems to not come together (pun intended). Pretty clear this is a band with each individual doing their own thing at this point. I have to agree with John's thoughts on the closing medley no matter how much I like (most of) it. It really just feels like a bunch of unfinished songs forced together. This album is still a good listen but not their best by far.

Love this band, and this is easily one of their best albums. Their droning wall-of-noise sound is something you feel as much as hear. The compositions evolve as they progress, building on simplicity and repetition, and ultimately exploding with chaotic energy. Years of previous experimentation results in full understanding here.

Starting to wonder if this band ever put out a miss. Overlooked them for years and have really kicking myself for it. Here's another solid release, jam-packed with creativity. They're constantly experimenting, but can still write hooks that never make the weirdo shit feel off-putting; all the while still undeniably rocking. This one in particular feels like a perfect waypoint between More Songs and Remain In Light.

I worked at a natural food store in college where this album was about all that I and the hippies I worked with could agree on musically. I heard it A LOT that year. Then the store closed. I still like this album though.

I remember sort of liking the '80s hits I'd heard from this band, but I didn't know anything past that. Still pretty solid pop rock at first. It's not something I expected to enjoy, but I was. Then it just FELL OFF with All I Ask and never found its way back. The whole back half was just terrible. It was like a different band.

I'm basically starting to cringe anytime I see my latest album is from the 2000s. Was this legit the worst era of music ever? At its best moments, this sounds like a children's record. I respect wanting to blend multiple styles and find your own voice as a band/project, but this is another instance where all that attempted innovation just waters everything down. Nothing here is memorable. Nothing here makes me go "wow!" when I hear it. Nothing makes me want to delve deeper into their catalog, or re-listen to this release. It's not offensive, it's just... there, like a backdrop you completely ignore. It has no emotional impact whatsoever.

Meh... It's not terrible. Flow and rhymes are solid. Not a fan of the production, but that's typical for me and modern hip-hop. Nothing really outstanding here though. Nothing makes me want to listen to it ever again.
