A good, highly enjoyable album - that i will never listen to again. It's light and breezy, slickly produced, has the occasional jazz chord thrown in the pop mixture to catch the ear - nothing wrong with this at all, I just can't imagine this becoming a regular listen. Oh and it does have Lovefool on it so that's probably why it's here on this list .

Unmistakably The Beach Boys and yet, there is a sad undercurrent which bobs above the surface every so often. Wasn't expecting to get through the album but it was so pleasant on the ear. Strong 4.

These guys spent a lot of time telling everyone how much they want to 'Rock' and despite no objections from anyone, they kept saying it anyway. No one is stopping you, guys. Feel free to Rock as much as you like but maybe do it over there, okay?
One of my first records in the early 90s was a Def Lep album and shortly after I discovered punk and forgot all about them. Listening to this today, I made the right choice.

My mum used to listen to this. She also voted for the Tories and thought Vienetta was 'exotic' so make of that what you will.

Wild, creative, bizarre. This guy appears to have a ton of albums so I expect I can find something I like. This is a good start - it was a challenging yet engaging listen. A man full of ideas and full of drugs.

I really like Sledgehammer and I found myself tapping my foot to Big Time. It's painfully 80's and I appreciate that so many have great nostalgic fondness for this record but it's just not for me.

Is jazz just five guys in a room playing whatever they want regardless of what the other musicians are playing and every once in a while it briefly clicks but they hurriedly move on anyway? That what it sounds like to me. Sometimes I was going "Yeah, this is working for me" only for John and friends to immediately change the groove and lose me again. Is that jazz? Am I too dumb for it? Or maybe I'm understanding it perfectly. Who knows. Who really cares.

Like pressing a button on the Hard-Rock-American-Blues-Album-Generating-Machine™ and out slips this turd.
That's probably a bit harsh but there it is.
I'm sorry to hear Dolly has died. I am also sorry to hear this album.

Dylan and Springsteen inspired, inoffensive but uninspiring, a bit middle of the road. Once it finished, I remembered nothing.

Tough one for me to rate; this album has depth. The vocals are unique and unmistakable and the instrumentation wraps up Cohen's words and transports them effortlessly. But as to how much I actually enjoyed it... It's difficult. Maybe I wasn't in the mood to hear a dying man lament over mortality and God.

I gave it a chance (first four songs) and it confirmed my belief that Coldplay are quite dull. It's not badly written or recorded but the whole product seems like a collection of advert songs. Or New Year's Eve montages. It feels like music listening on super easy mode. Which is fine because most people don't want challenging music - they want to pick one out 5 CD options in Tesco and put the case in their glovebox next to The Best Driving Anthems and go back to thinking about their mortgage or their new lawnmower.

Very bad indeed.

I quite enjoyed the title track. That is all.

There is stuff going on here. Good stuff.
I appreciate the blend of genres. And that's a nice drum sound. Beyond that, I'm a struggling to find the positives; definitely of a time and a place. The vocal delivery became grating a few tracks in. 2

Some cool ideas but it would have appealed to me more with different vocals/lyrics (there is an air of 70's nerdiness here) and some of the guitar tones/solos weren't working for me. I can see why they inspired so many bands.

Really fresh, positive and groovy hip-hop record. The vocals and rhymes actually feel good on the ears and flow well with the music - something I think rap often fails to do it.3.5

Amazing cover art. However, I am not a jazz fan and after 7mins of the opening track I was really struggling. I know nothing about this record but this is surely a room of musicians playing whatever they please regardless of what everyone else is doing around them? Is that what jazz is? My idiot brain was crying out for some order to appear amongst the chaos but it never comes. I respect your right to enjoy jazz but it's not for me.
