Great album. Wasn’t massively fussed on Scorpio which stopped it from getting a full five

We’re now into the second half of the project and what a great way to start it. Between the two Chic albums and Sister Sledge I’m loving a bit of Nile Rogers.
Rated 8/10
Before this I only knew Bobby Womack from his work with Gorillaz. His two tracks were probably my favourites on Plastic Beach so I was looking forward to it.
This was a really good album. Love his voice and there’s not a bad song on it. It’s just missing something for me to give it top marks
Rated 4/10
First few tracks this was heading straight to one star territory. I didn’t enjoy it at all. Then African Dance came on and I really liked it so that bumps it up to a two. Overall it was just kinda background music, not for me at all.
Rated 4/10
Starting positively, I did prefer this to Rid Of Me which I gave one star to. It’s not a bad album or anything, it just didn’t interest me in the slightest. I’m three hours removed from finishing it and I remember absolutely nothing about it.
Rated 10/10
A rare album where I listen to the full deluxe version. This was the first Divine Comedy album I ever bought and it’s always been a favourite of mine. There’s not a song on it I don’t enjoy.
Disc 2 has some interesting B sides and demos on it but the highlight for me are the songs Neil Hannon wrote for the series Father Ted. It’s by far my favourite comedy series but since my Girlfriend hates it, Father Jack absolutely disgusts her lol, I watch it so much anymore. Massive nostalgia hit listening to them.
Top Track - Songs Of Love, it would’ve been My Lovely Horse but they need to lose that sax solo
Even though I’m not a fan of the genre, I have found some Country albums throughout this that I have really enjoyed. This is not one of them.
I did really like the track If You Want To Be My Woman. Unfortunately I absolutely hated everything else about it.
Rated 8/10
Not gonna lie, when I saw the 1hr 45 run time on this I wasn’t exactly bursting with enthusiasm. While I have gained an appreciation for Jazz throughout this list I do have to be in the mood for it.
With that in mind, it did take me a bit to get into this but once I did it was great. I won’t get time to listen again today but I will give it another go at some point when I’m not in work and it’s way more relaxed.
Rated 6/10
Took me a bit to get into this one but I enjoyed it well enough once I did.
Top Track - Bonin’ In The Boneyard
Rated 6/10
My second Doves album after Lost Souls and while I preferred this one, it isn’t an album that’s going to live long in the memory.
My main criticism is with two songs, Words and There Goes The Fear. Is was really enjoying both up to a point but they kept going on and on and on. There’s no need for TGTF to be nearly 7 minutes long.
Top Track - Pounding
Rated 8/10
My fourth Rolling Stones album and my favourite so far. I think they’re always going to be a band I enjoy listening to but won’t ever go out of my way for. There’s just something about them that doesn’t really do it for me.
Top Track - Sympathy For The Devil
Rated 8/10
I’m not keen at all on Björk as a solo artist but this was quite a good listen. Wish she would’ve stuck to this
Rated 6/10
I was surprised how many songs I recognised from this considering I’ve never gone out of my way to listen to Moby before.
There’s some really good tracks on here but a good few that I wasn’t really that arsed about. Shave 15-20 minutes from it and I probably would’ve gone to 4 stars.
Top Track - Bodyrock, brought back memories of playing FIFA 2001 and Gran Turismo
Rated 10/10
love this album, have done since the day it was released. I vividly remember seeing the video for Magick for the first time and I was hooked.
Top Track - Gravity’s Rainbow
Rated 10/10
Hard to put this one into words. I didn’t know the entire backstory about Nicks son until today. Knowing that, there were parts of this album I found genuinely heartbreaking. As a parent I can’t even begin to fathom what he’s gone through.
Overall it’s a brilliant album but not one I think I will go back to very often.
Rated 10/10
First listen I was thinking a high 4 but after the second go it’s 5 all day long. Brilliant album
Rated 8/10
I hate Bob Dylan. I’ve had 4 of his albums so far resulting in two 1 stars and two 2 stars and it was very close to being a clean sweep of 1’s. I had a sense of dread when this generated but you know what, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’m struggling to figure out a reason not to give this 5 stars, never thought I’d say that about a Dylan album lol. I enjoyed every song on it, there’s a few I would even say were bloody brilliant. The main thing holding it back, great album aside, I still fucking hate Bob Dylan lol.
Top Track - Shelter From The Storm
Rated 10/10
Brilliant album. In general one of the main takeaways I’ll have from this project when it’s all said and done is finding out how much amazing music there is coming out of Africa.
Top Track - Hamady Boiro
Rated 8/10
This one started off really strong, the first three tracks are absolute bangers. For the most part the rest of the album was really good but it did run outta stream a wee but towards the end.
Top Track - Won’t Trade
Rated 6/10
I was hating this for the first couple of tracks but it slowly started to grow on me and by the time it got to Red Dress I was really enjoying it.
There’s definitely a few tracks on here I will go back to but I don’t think it’s one I’m likely to go and listen to in full again.
Top Track - DLZ
