Definitely a lot more coherent than their first album and easier to enjoy. Although this one doesn't have any of those must-hear songs.

'Rock Box' and 'It's Like That' are good, but everything else sounds so cheap. It's hilarious to read that this was considered to be groundbreaking back in 1984. I'm shocked. This is incredibly generic hip hop. The beats are cheap. The lyrics sound like they took 10 seconds to write. These guys got good eventually, but you wouldn't be able to tell from this.

"This is Stanley Hudson, and is one of our talented salesmen. An African American father of two, Stanley's dedication is no doubt one of the hallmarks of the foundation of the business we're hoping to build our basis on."

Some songs are really good, like 'Sunshine of Your Love', and some are still very enjoyable, like 'Strange Brew', 'Tales of Brave Ulysses', and even 'SWLABR'. Quite a few songs, though, fall very flat and are too psychedelic for any of us normal people to enjoy. I don't want to have to be on drugs to enjoy drug music. And what an awful way to close out an album. 'Mother's Lament'? What the hell was that??
