A friend purchased the soundtrack to the Dee Snider movie Strangeland and one track on there stood out to me, "Marmalade" by a band called System of a Down. I looked them up and circled the date of their debut release on my calendar.

This album was so unique and different at the time. It still holds up today.

A much cleaner sounding album than the previous ones, you can tell they stepped up the production on this one. It feels like this album ends way too soon and leaves me wanting more but I kind of like that about it.

It's difficult to make out melodies and songs. Nothing made me bob my head or tap my foot. The album seems a mess and incoherent to me. I'm not even sure I could label this album as iconic or influential in anyway.

This album was hard to get through. It's a double album that's way too long. Songs seemed to run into others, I had no idea where I was on the album at times.

The sound quality is lacking on this album, but perhaps that makes it a bit more "punk"? It's actually really well polished musically and lyrically it's not as bad as some punk can be.

I’ve liked Outtathaway & Get Free as those are memorable songs from that era, but nothing else on the album jumps out as great.

Not a fan of this album. It didn't flow nicely, not one song was good the whole way through. There were parts I didn't hate, but that's not ideal.
