Too poppy for me. Sounds like bad 90s white people sitcom music.

I don't feel strongly one way or the other about this record.

I've never been so enticed by Iggy Pop's persona to seek out Stooges albums. All I really knew of their music prior to this is the Uncle Tupelo cover of "I Wanna Be Your Dog." Anyway, I thought this was pretty good. I do tend to enjoy garage and psych, so it's less about Iggy here and more about the drums and the bass tone and the fuzz.
It's a great pick for the list given the sound bridging the 60s into the 70s and beyond.

If someone were to ask me if I like the Grateful Dead, I would say yes, absolutely, but the truth is this is really the only album of theirs I regularly listen to and I don’t dabble in their live bootlegs. I love this album. But maybe I don’t really love the band. I’d just as soon listen to Jerry with David Grisman or New Riders of the Purple Sage. This album, though, hoo-boy. A stone cold classic.
This was not really my vibe in the 90s, but you gotta hand it to them: this is a pretty good record. Much better than I was expecting, honestly.

I didn't care for this one. It's very appropriate for 1997, but it just doesn't strike a chord with me. Some of the jammier stuff on the back end was not bad, but even that would probably be 3-star level stuff on an album I actually like.

Not really feeling this one today. I rated the Kuti-Baker album four stars, but I can't quite wrap this one around my brain. I feel like I want to see it live and feel the heat and the sweat and it's just not there. They should have hit me with this one a few months ago.
Not my favorite Simon and G-Funk album.
The title track is a nice song, but the performance on tape here is not something I enjoy. El Condor Pasa is good. Never really cared for Cecilia. Then there is just a lot of mid fluff— Keep the Customer Satisfied, So Long Frank Lloyd Wright, Baby Driver, The Only Living Boy in New York.
Okay, The Boxer is an amazing song, can't argue with that.
But what's with the clapping on Bye Bye Love?
Song for the Asking is nice, but at 1:49 it's too little, too late.

Fun schtick but I do not need an entire album of this.

Side 2!
Haven't seen a sports metaphor around here lately. Is this record a home run? I'd say not quite, but it is a screaming line drive into the gap in left-center. For our friends in the UK and beyond, that is a bullet boundary through extra cover, not a sixer.
Rated 8/10
Bit of an odd duck, but I thought it was good. I did listen twice and I think I was really starting to understand it the second time around.
Lord, help me, I don't even like good hip hop.

I've heard the song Panama on the radio or whatever, probably since I was a kid, and I never knew what they were saying. Panama? I always heard it as "Had Enough" which is exactly how I feel about this entire album.
Rated 6/10
I feel like I may be one of the few people who had actually heard this album before doing the project. It's not bad. There are two good songs, but most of this is easy to pass over.
Rated 6/10
Red Dirt Girl was my 38th album. A real softball, 3 stars. I've been waiting two years for Emmylou to get a shot at redemption, because I'm not opposed to country music and she is a living legend. Unfortunately, this is just too limp, too slick and edgeless— can't do anything with it.
Rated 6/10
Not the worst post-punk album I've heard on here. It was good, but kind of a lot for one sitting. (I listened over two days.)
Rated 4/10
It seems like they are good at what they do, but indie synth pop is just not very appealing to me. The 80's sheen is also something to which I am averse.
Rated 8/10
I don't really consider myself a massive CCR fan. In fact, I've dismissed them as a greatest hits band on this very website. That said, I've previously rated Cosmo's Factory and Green River and both of those albums were solid 4s. This would be my third favorite of those three, but that's good enough to rank among albums like Document, XO, Unknown Pleasures, Graceland, and Nashville Skyline. So, if their third best album is that good, I suppose that means I am a massive CCR fan?
