Reviews by snickerdoodle

There's a few things that instantly make an album a 1 for me. This album makes me uncomfortable. I don't care about the politics in this review. I'm just rating the music. This is awful. Might be the worst album I've ever heard. I don't hate everything about it. I actually like Bawitdaba. It's not bad, if only a little cringe. Cowboy is fun, but the lyrics deprecating women is not my style. I just don't vibe with that lifestyle. (Kid Rock definitely isn't the worst one when it comes to that either. It's way too prominent in rock and rap). Also, so many lyrics about drinking and smoking. It gets annoying. I like listening to music that is relatable or universal. If it isn't relatable, I should be able to put myself in the shoes of the narrator and not feel like a creep. I really don't mind this being a Kid Rock album. He has some good music, but this is just terrible. I gave Korn a 1 for very similar reasons. This genre is very polarizing for me. You can have a fun, sexual, weird, and good album. Early Red Hot Chili Peppers is a great example of that, although this album is more metal than that. This just doesn't make me want to continue to listen any more.

The album started out really good. I was excited for this interesting take on hip hop. Unfortunately, it got old quickly. They lost me by the time they sang a song about leaving a wallet at a restaurant. Very riveting topic there. The album isn't bad. It's fun for sure, but just not for me. I'm not sure who exactly it is for either.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt because I haven't actually heard Kid A yet. Maybe I'm missing something, but I wasn't blown away. I had really high expectations and they just weren't met. There are solid tracks, great vocals and eerie sounds throughout which keep the album interesting. It's very solid. This wouldn't be my first choice of a Radiohead album though.

What in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is going on here? The band is very solid. The singing could be better. The random interludes are funny, but I'm not sure if that was the intent. Nothing much to hate, but not much to love either. Definitely isn't boring. There's a cool story. The sound quality is possibly the worst I've heard so far though. Altogether I'm glad it exists, but I might not be making to many revisits.

This is a really good album. A few songs were really great. A couple weren't amazing, but none were bad. This genre has been hit or miss for me, but this one is good.

It's a good album. Definitely influential, but I think I like what it inspired more. Wouldn't really be my first choice in the genre, but I'm not complaining that I listened to it.

Rated 10/10

What an amazing album. Paul Simon is an amazing songwriter and singer. His inclusion of African musicians is great even if I didn't love everything about those parts of the album. They work very well together. I didn't realize You Can Call Me Al was by Paul Simon or even that's what the song was saying, but it's great. This is added to my wishlist of vinyl records for sure.

This was an interesting clash of genres. I liked it. It's funny and groovy. I haven't listened to much ska before, but I've always liked what I've heard. Maybe I should listen to more.

The first and second halves of this album are completely different. Both pretty good in their own ways, but neither blow me away. Mother is a wild song and I kind of liked it but will only listen again if I decide to listen to the whole album and not alone. This album definitely does make me want to come back. I bet I would like it more after a few listens, but for right now, it's middle of the pack.

1 song in. I already hate it.

Not much more to say after somehow getting through the album. It's awful in every sense of the word.

I'm not sure how to feel about this album. Sometimes I think I'm liking it and sometimes I think it's boring or unpleasant to my ears. I doubt I would listen to the whole album again. Maybe a song here and there. But you have to get used to the voice and that's easier on some songs than others. Unfortunately, I think there's barely any songs that I would call good. Honestly, the more you get into the album, the more awful it gets.

There is nothing really exceptional about this album. I don't hate it, it's just not what I would choose to listen to ever.

I would have liked to rate this higher, but I wasn't the most impressed with the singing. It's a perfectly good album. Maybe it's a little basic, but it's good.

This album is better than I expected. I am not really a big fan of Bowie. This album is really good though. I didn't dislike any songs on this album and it never really got boring. Altogether, really good.

This album is beautifully made. Every song is interesting and good to listen to. They change it up quite a bit with song length, theme and style. It's everything I want in an album, honestly.

I seriously don't understand why people like this. I will admit, it's perfectly fine. Like, I wouldn't tell someone to turn off Beastie Boys. I might even play them on my own sometimes. A few songs at a time though.

This album is full of bad rhymes and that annoying thing where one person sings a whole line except for the last word that a lot of people sing. That's every song. Literally. Why. It's not funny, it's not cool, there's a lot of samples so any good part isn't even their doing.

I am 6 songs into the album as I'm writing this. I know I like a couple upcoming songs, but already this is going to be a low score. Nothing can save it, not even the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Alright, No Sleep Till Brooklyn is great. But still. Again, the album is just perfectly fine and not for me. But I don't get how anyone has any better opinions of this album than that. If you love this album, I'm happy for you.

This is a really good album. It's a bit basic, but I don't think it gets boring. There's nothing truly groundbreaking about it, but it's just some good music. The situation behind it's release is interesting. Altogether, yeah pretty good.
