It's does all the things you expect of a punk album exceptionally well - fast paced, short songs, great riffs, politically-themed vocals. For that alone it'd probably get a 5, but what makes it even better is it's variety in pace and influences from other rock subgenres

I've always deemed Arctic Monkeys as overrated but I think I'm basing that off their later stuff because I enjoyed this one

Lovely basslines and even better riffs and hooks make this a really good album. Never been a fan of the vocals though. Thought the drumming was a bit naff too.

Not a big fan of indie stuff but this was definitely one of the better ones I've heard

I found this really interesting because it's unlike anything I've heard before.

The beats wouldn't go amiss in the trip hop scene, Karin's dreamy vocals juxtapose the dark and mysterious atmosphere of the album. The nonsensical lyrics add to the overall theme. A really nice record and I'm glad it's on this list

Only reason it doesn't get a 5 is it's repeatability factor. You have to be in the proper mood to enjoy this one, it's not something you can just put on at any point in the day. And for me, I can't see myself being in the mood for this album a whole lot, but I will definitely be revisiting it at some point

Obviously he's a great musician and storyteller. I'm not gonna repeat the same shit everyone else has, but I will say there's more to the lyrics than what's on the surface in the hope that those who dislike it for it's "misogyny" or whatever takes another look at it because that's not the point of this album.

Story and meanings aside, he's made better stuff. I'm not a great fan of the downtempo, mellow hip hop stuff in general. The basslines are great though and the way he changes his voice to represent different characters and still maintain a high standard is really impressive. High 3

Without a doubt this is at least a Top 15 thrash metal album of all time - probably top 5 in the "Big 4"

I'm not even that much of a Slayer fan

Easily my favourite grunge album of all time.

Perfect album for when you feel like absolute filth

It made me think I was a distinguished upper-class gentleman that wore classy suits and had a large wine collection and this gets marks for putting me in that delusion and making me escape the horror that is the real world :)

Really quite tough to rate this one really, with all things considered.

If I was rating this compared to my normal tastes it'd probably get a 2/3, but compared to the albums on this website I've already rated it feels like it deserves higher.

The album itself is mid. The first 5 tracks are great, even if they are very overplayed (saying that listening to Enter Sandman for the first time in a while made it kinda good again). The rest after that - barring Nothing Else Matters - is just filler.

I reckon there are definitely 4 - possibly even 6 counting Death Magnetic and Load - Metallica albums that are better than their self titled. This doesn't have the same energy as their previous four. Also, I know it's said a lot but the drumming on this album fucking sucks and the solos aren't great either.

On the alternative though, Jason finally gets his bass heard, and very deservedly so he's a phenomenal bass player. James' vocals are arguably the best of the first 5 albums too.

It gets a 4, just. After a fair few minutes of consideration

It's interesting. Yeah.

I am never going to listen to this ever again but I appreciate those that made this list for putting it on here

Album 144 out of about 1,000: I finally have my first ACTUAL metal album I cannot believe it. (I am not counting Led Zeppelin or fucking Kid Rock as metal)

The album itself is pretty good because I see it as a sort of "best hits" for Motörhead as it features a lot of my favourites on here. The thing with Motörhead is I don't often find myself in the mood for them. Not to say they are bad by any means, just there are better bands out there.

I probably would give this a 3 under normal circumstances but compared to what I've already rated 3 I think it's better than those. Listening to the 40 minute version rather than the 2 hour one probably helped too
