Chuck D just has the most badass voice.
This one not quite as It Takes a Nation of Millions but still must hear for anyone who likes hip hop

Love the energy, love the songwriting, love the guitars.
-1 for the vocal style which gets a bit annoying at times.

Ahhh. Music is so just situation dependent.

I got this on a rainy miserable Sunday when I felt rubbish.

On a different day I’m sure this could be something I love but right now I have a headache and want to go back to bed. This was far too chipper and annoyed me. When it ended I listened to The Microphones and Songs:Ohia.

Imperfect debut by a great band. They get better than this but you can hear the formula was there.

Weird pick to put this on the list and not Homogenic or Post.

But still…. Even an average Bjork album is better than most music not by Bjork.

Imagine this soundtracked the BBC’s office parties in the 80s.

Musically, it’s a bop. Lyrically it makes me feel queasy.

I’m going to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and assume the lyrics are from the perspective of characters rather than Ian being an absolute creep.

Had this on repeat the summer after it came out and not at all since. This took me right back.

U2 are a strange band.

Overrated by the masses.
Severely underrated by most internet-dwelling music nerds.

The reality is probably somewhere in the middle.

Ok, I get it. I can see why this is on the list. I can even see why people who love this band and get tattoos of them.

It’s just not for me. At all.

3 stars for being culturally significant and for being glad I listened to it.

Edit: I ended up getting two Iron Maiden albums in a row. Downgrading this one because it’s not as good as the other

I ignored Hendrix for so many years basically because the metal-leaning guitar-wanker types in school all liked him. I still remember the first time I actually listened to this album and thought it was great.

Basically Foo Fighters if Foo Fighters weren’t shit.

One of my go-to albums when it gets dark.

Never bothered with Cat Stevens until seeing him support Neil Young last summer. Great performer. Great set of songs
