Thought this was the coolest album ever when I first heard it.
Must have listened 100 times more over the years and still feel the same way.
If I ever open a smokey underground cocktail bar expect this to be on heavy rotation.

ARGH IM SO ANGSTY AND OPPRESSED.
IT MAKES ME WANT TO WEAR A LEATHER JACKET, EYELINER AND SKULL JEWELLERY AND SHOUT ABOUT IT ON THE JOOLS HOLLAND SHOW.
Glad to get this.
I now have a benchmark for bang average.

They actually wrote my review for me in the lyrics of ‘Pearls Cafe’…
“It's all a load of bollocks”
Yes it is.

Double albums are normally the result of poor quality control. Artists so far up theirown arse they can’t recognise which songs are the duds and should be cut.
Ironically, this album is made up of songs which Lennon, McCartney and Martin deemed not to make the cut for Beatles records.
The result is an album better than most of the actual Beatles records.
John needed Paul
Paul needed John
George just needed himself

Raw like sushi.
Aged like milk.

The digs at McCartney on this are ridiculous…
“the only thing you done was Yesterday”
Wo John, lad…don’t disrespect the frog song like that.

My wife’s favourite band is The National.
My daughter’s favourite singer is Taylor Swift.
Imagine how pleased I was to pull this on the day we had a long drive.
Finally, something we can all get behind and enjoy together as a family.
Except we didn’t. This was so damn boring I had to open the windows in December to keep us awake.
The first truly great album by my all time favourite artist.
Neil wrote Cinnamon Girl, Down By The River and Cowgirl in the Sand in a single day whilst suffering from a fever.
He did more for music in one afternoon than most artists achieve in their lifetime… and we’re lucky enough to have another 50+ years of the crazy bastard.
The easiest of 5 stars.

Fun pop - very ‘of its time’.
Music equivalent of roast turkey dinner.
Perfect for this time of year but that doesn’t mean it’s actually good and you’d be sectioned if you considered it in July.

Pretty freaky Bowie
Rated 8/10
Oh man… it’s just a peak era Bowie album I’ve never listened to before. Excellent.
Rated 6/10
Potentially controversial opinion:
This is a middling effort far below top tier Pink Floyd
Eras of Pink Floyd ranked:
1. 1971-77 The good stuff (5 stars all round)
2. 1967-68 Barrett’s ‘Garden gnome on LSD’ era
**3. 1979-83 Waters-dominating ‘Cokey opera’ era**
4. 1969-70 ‘Hipsters pretend this isn’t shit’ era
5. 1987- ‘Old man Gilmour bought a houseboat’ era
It’s certainly not a bad album and is 100% deserving of being called ‘must hear’ for the concept.
It’s just not deserving of the iconic reputation it carries.

Today is the shortest day of the year.
The sun is barely arsed to shine today.
This is the perfect soundtrack.
I remember not rating this at all when it came out. It’s much better than I remember. Still not a ‘must hear’ by any stretch but I enjoyed it.

I listened to this whilst walking through a very sleepy middle-class English neighbourhood. I got to the corner shop just as ‘Deeez Nuuuts’ came on. Had to pause it briefly to help an old lady when her Brichon Frise’s lead got tangled round the wheel of her granny cart.
I got the last loaf of my favourite seeded farmhouse bread. I think it’s made locally.
I’m pretty gangster myself, actually.
Rated 4/10
Pretty far below the benchmark set by ATCQ. Maybe that’s an unfair comparison.

Psychedelic Rock x Country Rock…. 2 genres I like separately somehow not living up to the sum of their parts. Still enjoyed it though.
