Beautiful Freakeels

Rated 6/10

I liked listening to this I’m just not sure I would come back to it. Favorite songs were Rags To Rags, Not Ready Yet, and Mental.

Just a damn good time. Jazzy instrumentals with lyrics that don’t take themselves seriously. Favorites were Oh Shit, I’m That Type of N****, Soul Flower, Passin’ Me By, and Return Of The B-Boy

This is really great. The instrumentals all rock and the melodies and lyrics are good too. Pretty straightforward British punk done really well and there’s nothing wrong with that. Favorite songs were Fast Cars, Get On Our Own, I Don’t Mind, and Fiction Romance.

Some might say “who wants to listen to the same riff with minimal variation for 11 minutes?” Me. I do. And it was great. Album as a whole was good but not great. Highlights were Revolution, Suicide, and Lord Can You Hear Me.

Bad Company by Bad Company on the album Bad Company doesn’t have the same aura that Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath on the album Black Sabbath has. It’s could always be worse company. Absolute meat and potatoes rock. Built to fill the dead air of classic rock radio between Stairway and Welcome To The Jungle after the morning show but before the midday DJ starts. I will not complain about listening to this, but not much more than that. Favorite songs were Can’t Get Enough, Ready For Love, and Bad Company.

The two peaks here are clearly the extended jams of Down By The River and Cowgirl In The Sand. Neil and Crazy Horse just kick ass. Cinnamon Girl is also a great song. Not huge on the title track and Running Dry which holds this back from being a 5.

Honestly kinda meh for me. I was hoping for more songs like Our House but that seems to be a one off. Favorites were Tomorrow’s (Just Another Day) and Our House.

PhrenologyThe Roots

Rated 8/10

Little odd to make this The Roots inclusion over Things Fall Apart but ok. Great album. Great blending of genres and Black Thought is a top five or ten rapper of all time so it’s easy to love this. Favorite songs are Rock You, Rolling With Heat, Thought At Work, The Seed (2.0), Quills, and Rhymes and Ammo.

Fun HouseThe Stooges

Rated 10/10

An absolute descent into madness. Starts off pretty similar to what they were doing on the debut for the first three songs and then just goes off the rails from there. I love that half the lyrics are just Iggy hootin and hollerin. Absolutely awesome!

Hurts me to not be able to give this one a 5. The guitar tone alone is fantastic. The beginning and end of this album is legendary shit. Money For Nothing is on here! But Why Worry and Ride Across The River drag this one down for me.

Feels weird to call this one metal. It’s solid, but I’m not sure this really belongs on the list. The songs that were hits that I’ve heard a million times are still good though. Favorite songs were Consequence, Stellar, Drive, and Pardon Me.

His voice is good, but as a whole this album is kinda samey. Favorite songs were Cry To Me and Can’t Nobody Love You

I think this was a little more consistently good than Imagine. You can tell he was definitely going through some things when writing these songs. God is super interesting because it is super egotistical and is essentially him saying to the fans and himself “the Beatles are over. Get over it.” However, unlike Kanye, John Lennon did not get God himself to feature on his I Am A God song so it’s automatically not as good. Favorites were Hold On, I Found Out, Remember, Well Well Well, and God.

The band is jamming and Louis brings the energy and humor. It just sounds like a party. Favorites were Just A Gigolo, The Lip, and Jump Jive An’ Wail.

Aged absolutely horrendously. I could be listening to Linkin Park, Slipknot, or System of a Down. Perfectly fine until the moment he starts rapping with his annoying ass voice. Also really appreciated the 3 minutes of looped laughter on the Outro. Hot Dog references nine inch nails and I was enjoying it until I realized that I could just be listening to that. This deserves its spot here, but it sucks.

This is aight. Some of these songs just sorta go by, and it also suffers from the CD era length issue. Favorites were Me Against The World, Dear Mama, and Old School

Lyrics are somewhat meaningless but it’s a lot of fun. Quirky vocals and the drumming is pretty good as I was attempting to air drum along numerous times. Favorite songs were Planet Claire, Rock Lobster, Hero Worship, and Downtown.

I remember really liking No Other (still do!) so I was looking forward to listening to this. Unfortunately, this disappointed me. He just spends so much time trying to be Dylan without carving out an identity for himself. Best songs here were For A Spanish Guitar and Tears of Rage.

Wild GiftX

Rated 8/10

This is a really fun album. I especially like the use of dual vocalists. I think Los Angeles is a better album by them, but this is great in its own right. Favorite songs were The Once Over Twice, Adult Books, It’s Who You Know, Beyond and Back, and Year 1
