thanks 1001 albums generator: 21. For giving me the BOOGIE
This album is groovy baby, gives the funk to whoever's got the blues.
It's a great dance record, the fact that the album that is talked about like how i'm talking about this one is Ray Of Light is insane.
NEED TO HEAR RATING: DEFINITELY HEAR
Best song: The Heart Remains A Child
Worst song: Big Deal
Underrated: Walking Wounded (Omni Trio Remix)
Rated 8/10
I had forgotten all about this group! I actually just got lost in this 2 hour album and did chores around my house so...I have to give it a four? So much was accomplished because of sad lady and her robot. It was great!

One look at the genre tag list and I was sold. If there's one thing I can praise Robert Dimery on, it's the variety of downtempo fusions he decided to include. Now, the DnB drum patterns aren't always as aggressive as I wished, so a few songs end up failing to distinguish themselves from a Portishead joint... but then that's not really a bad comparison, is it?
Those bonus tracks are no joke either!!
Standouts: Before Today • Wrong • Single • Walking Wounded • Flipside • Mirrorball • Walking Wounded - Omni Trio Remix

Better than Coldplay

I want to listen to Annie Lennox.
We have Annie Lennox at home.
At home: this uninspiring album

If you asked me to say one word when I think of the band Everything But the Girl, I’d probably say “Boring.” So, I came to this record like “prove to me that I should like something by Everything But the Girl.”
And ok: I do think the trip-hoppiness of this particular album makes it marginally more interesting than what I remember about their other stuff. But it still sounds like bland background music to me, lacking what I like about bands like Massive Attack where there’s an interesting tension in the music. I guess the title track here approaches that for me (particularly listening to it while watching that interesting b&w video of the people with the empty picture frames), but unfortunately on the whole this album hasn’t changed my opinion of the band much.

Why are there two albums from this group on the list?
Rated 4/10
Pretty boring tbh, her voice is great, and I enjoy it when they step on the gas a bit. Unfortunately, they only do that like twice.

Two! Albums by thesse yawn festivals but not a single album off of Flying Nun. Bobert, you mug.

90's easy listening

nije ovo uopće loše, ženska ima lijep glas. al malo mi fali nečeg, malo mi je pregenerično, premda mi se načelno dopalo. visoka trojka
Rated 6/10
I am not a trip hop fan, so that is definitely going to colour my experience of Walking Wounded, but even despite this I admire the ambition behind this record and how it blends vocals seamlessly with the cool downtempo beats. It’s a cohesive sound with an unexpected mixture, though it’s potentially a bit one note to sustain that vibe across the whole tracklist.

Boring AF

I'll take everything but this album sir

Це гурт чомусь повністю пройшов повз мене, хоча назва ж звісно на слуху. Тож це перше знайомство з Everything But The Girl.
Rated 6/10
Huge glow up front their boring adult contemporary 80s sophistipop album. Ripping off Portishead was a great move for them - this is has great loungey easy going drum and bass rhythms, downtempo atmosphere, and a moody sultry trip hop feel. Mellow and laid back lazy morning, come down late night, focus on the computer style stuff. Extremely dated but in an endearing way.
Rated 4/10
90s chill trance was cool this is a little mainstream to be anything more than average.
The album cover is great though

Is Everything But The Girl (E-B-T-G) Japanese?!? I can find no evidence of this, so IDK what's up with the album cover. Maybe they're just Sailor Moon fans.
'Missing' was on the radio all the time, but that's not on this album. However, it had a common misheard lyric ("like the deserts mystery" vs "miss the rain") that I mention here because I thought that song was actually from Sting (because of 'Desert Rose'). Been a while since I had a classic switcheroo!
As for what's actually happening here: it's fine. I like the trip hop elements, but several songs sound a lot like 'Missing', which I never liked that much. I guess it can get a 3.
