In the first line of She Told Me So does George confirm he believes in the geocentric model of the universe? I really enjoyed this album. The instrumentation is subtle allowing his voice and lyrics to be the focus. The title track is clearly the main attraction here with the other songs playing in similar spaces. He has a really great voice and I like how he throws it on the more uptempo songs. Favorites were The Grand Tour, The Weatherman, She Told Me So, and Our Private Life.

This was interesting but probably not something I would call essential. The synths and drums are punchy and her vocals are good in both English and French. It’s just not really my kind of music. What’s-Her-Face reminds me of Wandering Star by Portishead and I like that.

After listening to this I went back to Dog Man Star. I like this album much better. I think the simpler compositions seen here work to the band’s benefit. The vocal performances here are better to me as well. This was definitely more directly influenced by glam rock. Favorites were Animal Nitrate, Pantomime Horse, and Metal Mickey.

Everybody’s Talkin’ is a great song (did this inspire Jimmy Buffett to make Margaritaville?) and Cynicrustpetefredjohn Raga was an incredibly interesting instrumental passage. The rest of this I could probably take or leave. His voice is great, but I don’t think the songs do enough.

As an American, my only knowledge of Robbie Williams prior to this was the song Angels and that they made a biopic where he is a monkey. Maybe I should watch that movie because I enjoyed this. Besides Angels, which is great, much of this sounds like an effort to replicate the sound of Oasis. Favorite songs were Life Thru A Lens, Angels, Old Before I Die, and Let Me Entertain You.

I was completely unfamiliar with this album prior to this. A great selection of beats from DJ Premier with lyrics and flows that for the most part really work with them. Sometimes he stumbles a little like I don’t think the flow on My Mind Spray really works. No filler here and it doesn’t outstay its welcome. Favorites were Da Bichez, You Can’t Stop The Prophet, Ain’t The Devil Happy, and Come Clean.

They let the bassist get a little funky with this one, especially on Barbarism Begins At Home. This is a great album. Morrissey’s vocal performances were overall weaker here when compared to The Queen Is Dead. Great record overall. The contrast between the glittery guitars and lyrics really works on this. Favorite songs were I Want The One I Can’t Have, What She Said, That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore, and Barbarism Begins At Home.

Nick Cave assembles a very spooky set of songs here. Effectively conveying the horror of murder. Definitely the right guy to make an album like this. The guest appearances were really appreciated and added to all the songs. Especially liked hearing Shane MacGowan on the closer. Favorites were Henry Lee, Where The Wild Roses Grow, The Curse Of Millhaven, O’Malley’s Bar, and Death Is Not The End.

This is a step in the direction they would go on later releases. I liked it. The first half are upbeat and fun songs with great melodies and the second half, while slower, shows off some great vocals and we get to hear them eat lunch. Favorites were Do You Wanna Dance, Help Me Rhonda, Dance, Dance, Dance, and She Knows Me Too Well.

The sonic experimentation on here is incredibly interesting especially in the second half. The baseline on Be My Wife is fantastic. This album is amazing not sure what else I can contribute to the conversation about it. I like Heroes slightly more. Now does Bowie deserve nine albums on this list? Maybe not, but I’m not going to complain about it.

This is my favorite Radiohead album. There isn’t a single song here I wouldn’t at least consider great. The funky rhythm of 15 Step, the fuzzy guitars of Bodysnatchers, the haunting melody of Nude. I could go on and on about how much I love this one. The album cover is also really cool.

Well they can’t all be winners. This album is noticeably weaker than the other two Paul Simon albums on the list. Probably not one I would go back to. Cars Are Cars is a stupid song. Favorite songs were Think Too Much (a) and The Late Great Johnny Ace.

I’ve seen this cover in the record store and told myself this was one to check out and I guess today is that day. This was a really great album. Very funky and soulful and jazzy. I like that in the longer songs space is left for each instrument to have their moment while the jam continues. Favorite songs were The Cisco Kid and The World Is A Ghetto.

The second half of this album is just incredible song after incredible song. Very close contest here between this and Electric Ladyland over my favorite JHE album. I think I like this one slightly less but I could be convinced. Great tone and some of the best guitar playing of all time. Game changing stuff truly. Jimi’s vocals are also great.

This album is essential in chronicling the history and growth of rock and roll. Elvis is a super important figure and his voice is so versatile on the different styles present here. Not a fan of his version of Tutti Frutti. Listening in 2026 this still holds up as a good album. Favorite songs were Blue Suede Shoes, Trying To Get To You, and Money Honey.

This is a great album. The parallels to the Flaming Lips are obvious and understandable. Essentially a softer Soft Bulletin. Favorite songs were Holes, Opus 40, Goddess On A Hiway, and Delta Sun Bottleneck Stomp.

The hip-hop bible. Grimy beats, hard hitting lyrics, smooth flows. Everything here was on top form. Greatest rap album ever made.

The best Rolling Stones album they never made. This album was great. The drumming was a real highlight. Favorites were Have You Seen My Baby?, Yesterday’s Numbers, and Whiskey Woman.

Definitely the best Deep Purple album I have ever listened to. The energy is relentless. The drumming is fantastic and the guitar and organs are explosive. How did they manage to make an organ sound like a tiger on Living Wreck? You can definitely hear how this would have influenced groups like Iron Maiden or Van Halen. Favorites were Speed King, Child In Time, Flight Of The Rat, and Living Wreck.
